Speaking of Marcus, I was bummed at the juke that Young put on him late in the game to get about 15 extra yards on his scramble. Terrible play on his part that lead up to their only TD.

Wasn't it S Marcus Maye that whiffed on it?

I sure hope he was scolded on that play ... He was practically a spectator rather than a participant.

I believe it was Kirk Morrison, while talking about missed tackles, sometime last week said that sometimes the defender takes a bad angle or gets his feet out of position and truly misses the tackle. Then he said that there are simply times that the offensive player makes a move that will make the best of players miss. He said that you just need to give the offensive player credit. Morrison was one of the best tacklers in the game so he knows his stuff.

Here's the play. I'll give Young the credit on that one. I'd say the defender gets beat on that type of play a high percentage of the time.

Respectfully disagree ... the video clearly shows it was Maye. He could've and should've stuck Young on a righteous tackle.
leilung and K Major like this.

Oh, yes, it was definitely Maye. You put any defender out there in exactly the same position in the open field with Young at full speed and the defender will miss the majority of the time. If the ball carrier was Kamara they'd lose every time. That has to be the most difficult tackle to make in the game.

I'd like rezburna's input on that one. I'm sure he's been in that position more than once in his career.

If he had made the tackle it would have been a great one.

I think he was expecting a QB slide.

Good point. Very possible. Being a QB you would absolutely have to factor that into how you approach a hit. That's not a concern with other positions running the ball.

Shouldn't they expect the unexpected as professionals? Would TJ Watt or Nick Bosa be so timid in a similar situation?
