Valid.

Gruden was in Metarie earlier this summer ... use some of the concepts he implemented/suggested. Screens, playaction on 1st down (see Detroit game last night), get the football out early. No need to stand back there with this terrible oline and get your QB destroyed & take more sacks.

It's a copy cat league. Do what the Lions did last night. Philly vs Bucs or MIA (Tua has taken only 1 sack so far) vs Denver.

Change it up, get more creative on offense. With the WR/TE & RB room, there is absolutely no reason why we shouldn't be scoring UNDER 24 ppg.

Help out your defense. They are good enough but you can't expect them to be on the field all game (7 punts vs Pack) long.

Coaching matters. Even at this level.

He’s gonna run Kamara straight up the middle every time you watch. Almost as if he thinks he can will it to work.

The Bengals line had been horrible for several years but they started getting things together over the last two years. Weren’t great but not horrible either. Much better than us at this point.

They were ranked 20th when they went to the SB.

LT Jonah Williams | 77.9
LG Quinton Spain | 72.3
C Trey Hopkins | 51.4
RG Hakeem Adeniji | 48.4
RT Riley Reiff | 67.3

At this point, I’d sign old man Jason Peters.

I believe he signed somewhere a few weeks back.

He’s on the Seahawks practice squad.

Unfortunately, I think that's still much better than our scores this year.

Probably so. I think Penning will improve. McCoy and Ram will level out. My biggest concern are the Guard positions.

I do think with Penning we have to realize while this is his second year it is his 4th in actual game play.

Ram is my biggest disappointment so far. He has been nowhere near how he have looked the last couple of years.

He's the one who whiffed on tue block that got DC4 injured . Hopefully he learned his lesson .

Still good however no longer elite.

I wonder if he's having lingering knee issues?

He didn’t look bad the first two weeks, and Carr was kind of holding the ball a little too long.

Top three in passes defended. Not bad.

Good to know that some players are performing well, but big picture our defense hasn't been very good (currently rank #18) over the last few weeks.

Tackling was poor vs the Bucs.

Defensive power rankings

Usual suspects (Niners, Eagles, Bills, Chiefs, Dallas) at the top.

Re: 2023 New Orleans Saints: Regular Season News

That pass defended stat is interesting, no doubt they are doing something well, but the bigger question is why are teams going at them so hard? My theory is they do not make a ton of interceptions, so keep going at them and eventually they will make a mistake. Just a guess...??

K Major 10-05-2023 11:24 AM

Re: 2023 New Orleans Saints: Regular Season News

An even uglier defensive stat is that the Bucs were ranked 30th in terms of rushing yards per game coming into that game. We're talking High School bad ...

Baker Mayfield had more rushing yards than Alvin Kamara & Taysom Hill  .

One should wonder the affect of the defense spending so much time out there on the field due to the inability of the offense to maintain drives. Even the best defenses can get worn down when their offensive counterparts aren't doing their job. The one critique that I have had on the Saints over the past couple of years has been Carmichael's lack of production, whether that be in play design and/or play calling.

What is also interesting is that the Saints have allowed the fewest passing TD's in the league on the year so far with two. It doesn't appear they are making many mistakes. The Saints do have more interceptions than TD's allowed.

Re: 2023 New Orleans Saints: Regular Season News

We were discussing Saints penalties somewhere recently and I just came across this.

It makes you wonder if it's the Saints committing a higher number of penalties, or the luck of the draw in officiating crew given the numbers are inflated for both teams collectively.

Edit: Apparently so.
