A 7th rounder? QB? Going against a tough, experienced Dallas defense?

That’s why many Saints fans are tired of the excuses on why we can’t get it done with the level of talent. And their defense hasn’t skipped a beat without Demeco.

Coaching is top tier though .

Niners, Philly & Dallas are tough outs in the NFC.

Amazing isn't it about QB Purdy? Our very own Jake Haener should be close to this guy. We won't see him for a while. Brock Purdy didn't play until late in the season for SF. It does take time to assimilate the play book.

Critical is fine! And you are free to name call here - just be prepared for a challenge. :bng: And it's all in the name of respectful debate.

If we had their head coach Carr, Winston, and Haener would all be balling. That scheme is beautiful. It opens up so much opportunity.

Man! First shut out sinc october 30 last year when we beat the Raiders.

* Carl Granderson my hat is off to you! Terrific game. He is growing into a complete player doing great work both against the pass and run.

* I love how bothe Jordan and CG does the jump rush to the outside. if executed correctly it is a b*tch to block because it creates a whole new angle than what you expected.

* Michael Thomas is still doing great work on those tough catches.

* Olave can do better than this game.

* Davis still a heavy hitter. The play he made on the 3rd and short was a thing of beauty.

* I really like our interior DL. We got a solid group there.

* O-line looked better than before but still a lot of room for improvement.

* Kendre Miller, the play where he VIOLENTLY chip-blocked and then caught a short pass and took it 33 yds, just loved it.

*Rushing average needs to improve. A lots of times it lookes like the holes are there but our RBs just don't hit 'em really hard.

* Our D is getting opportunistic. This is a very good thing.

Not to be a wet blanket but I need to see MUCH more from the coaches before I get excited again.

We routed a terrible Raiders team last year then promptly lost the next 4 of 5 games.

You can say that every mid to late round QB should be Brady, Purdy, or Cousins etc but the truth is that the vast majority of QBs drafted in these later rounds are not stars. You can't just take a 5th rounder and expect they will be close to Brady because he was a 5th rounder or because there was some vaguely similar biographical element like being stuck behind an entrenched starter most of his college career but having good size and a live arm. Haener is a lottery ticket until he proves otherwise. He could be the next Purdy but there are 20 other failed mid round picks he could be like instead. He could also be like 1998 6th round pick John Dutton of the Miami Dolphins who was drafted in hopes of being a successor to Dan Marino but instead became a 2x Arena Bowl champion and later the fictional governor of Montana. So it is just as likely that Jake Haener will go on to be a fictional livestock commissioner n cable TV as that he will be the next Brock Purdy.

Peaked a little on yesterday, checked out the Texans/Atlanta game.

Deridder is a decent (only his 9th start) QB with weapons (London, Algiers & Pitts).
Bijon is already that dude. Biggest takeaway is that he doesn't play scared. That O line gave him time.

Their defense is still struggling but ok.

They had to pull out the bag of tricks to beat a young, pesky Texans (our next opponent).

I'll provide an example.

PENALTIES & FALSE STARTS. At the PRE SNAP. 5 WEEKS into the season, it's still happening.

That's discipline. Coaching.

Sorry but Allen and Carmichael aren't off the hook with me beating a non contender on yesterday. Clean up that pre snap stuff immediately.

Beating the more difficult teams/contenders won't be this easy with those bone headed penalties.
