Interestingly enough, the Saints have only three more total accepted penalties than does the 49er's after five games (36 - 33). Both teams have the same number of pre-snap penalties after the same five games with 11.

The Eagles have one more pre-snap penalty than does the Saints and the 49er's with 12 for the season. Dallas is sitting at 16 pre-snap penalties to date for 2023.

Fun game to attend. Great weather. Gave away some gumbo to other Who Dats at the tailgate before the game.

Good performance by the Team. I’ll say Good not great for a couple reasons.

Had a lot of penalties again. Earlier in the season we seemed like we may have overcome those penalty problems;especially pre snap penalties. It worked though because..

That Pats team sucked yesterday. LSU would have likely beaten them. I could feel it in the parking lot 2 hours before the game. A few drunks were yelling loud, but 70 percent of the fans seemed prepared to lose before the game started. The other 30% were either Saints fans or those drunk dudes.

Stadium was pretty quiet;especially after our first TD. They shanked punts. They missed a FG. Obviously Jones couldn’t hit any open WRs. Run game was stuffed. That team and that stadium had the wind knocked out of it before halftime. I kept telling my friend John, who took me and all the Pats fans around me that the Saints were going to let them back in the game. I told him that we would make a mistake through a turnover or special teams to let the Pats back in. I expected it to happen, but we wouldn’t give it away. Good thing!

My dad used to say that a team is never really as good as they look when they are winning and never really as bad as they look when they are losing. The last two weeks of Saints games was proof of that to me.

I tried to post a few pics but it says I had no security token whatever that means.

The good: We did what a good team would do to a weak opponent (34-0)
The bad: We still had way too many penalties
The ugly: All the pessimism after a 34-0 ass whoopin'.

[quote=hitta;982790]I think the only thing keeping this team from its Superbowl aspirations is bad HCing and horrible playcalling. Dennis Allen does a great job with the defense, but he's not a head coach. He's too in his head, overthinks things, plays probabilities, etc. Being a head coach requires you to have a pulse on the team, which he lacks completely. The playcalling is still horrible regardless of whether it was effective today. Carr can throw the football though, and hopefully, some people will get off his back a bit.[/QUOTE

The announcers were really ragging on the play calling yesterday. it was good enough to put up points but there were a lot more available that we left out there.

Amazing isn't it about QB Purdy? Our very own Jake Haener should be close to this guy. We won't see him for a while. Brock Purdy didn't play until late in the season for SF. It does take time to assimilate the play book.

Haener is on suspension but I imagine he's studying really hard and taking notes to talk about with the coaches when he's back.

PENALTIES & FALSE STARTS. At the PRE SNAP. 5 WEEKS into the season, it's still happening.

That's discipline. Coaching.

Sorry but Allen and Carmichael aren't off the hook with me beating a non contender on yesterday. Clean up that pre snap stuff immediately.

Beating the more difficult teams/contenders won't be this easy with those bone headed penalties.

There are no repercussions for repeating the same mistakes again and again. That's on coaches to fix. If thy can't fix it then it's time to look at other options for inspiration besides Alvin Kamara.

Haener has been back. I discovered suspended players can actually return to the team facilities, but just aren't allowed to practice or attend games.

This makes sense since all of the teams that involve a lot of motion in their offenses are getting a greater number of pre-snap penalties. It comes with the territory.
