Observations from the Saints win vs Patriots
1 Attachment(s)
Carr looks healthier and it showed. Makes you wonder whether the Saints chose wisely last week in not sitting DC4.
RB Miller , S Bowden , LT Penning look much improved. Kamara getting his legs back also . MT as well with decent production . First shutout win in a minute or two. Defense did its job. Bresee is the real deal. OL still much work in progress. An almost great play for a TD by Olave. Need to find a punter. Enjoy this win. Always good to beat a BB coached team. |

Olave really needs to learn to hang onto the ball when going to ground.
That stuff happened a few times last year, I know the game was well out of reach when it happened, but that's an easy TD he has to get. If that happens in a tighter game, then he'd have cost us. Great performance by the rest. Alvin and the D especially |
Re: Observations from the Saints win vs Patriots
Okay…my opinion…. It was great showing of play and a fine display of talent. Expected.
Sorry, but it begs me to ask, are the Saints that good, or are the Patriots that bad. A win is a win, and they should win as convincingly going forward. :beatnik: I bet the Patriot fans are all saying …. Good job guys, maybe next week. Oh… The Prima Donna… 4 catches.. zero touchdowns. Meh. Kamara the thug less than 100 total yards, 22 carries, single touchdown. Better then Thomas. Expectation: quality play for which they are paid for, to shut me up. :beatnik: |

The Patriots are 0-3 at home, a bust at QB & have been out scored 68-3 over the last two weeks. They are flat out awful. Where was this Saints team vs GB & the Bucs? But you’re right, a win is a win. Big picture, Pete Carmichael still needs to lose his job. |
Re: Observations from the Saints win vs Patriots
Play calling was still stale and conservative and would have produced a different result against a mediocre team. Luckily the Patriots are awful on both sides of the ball. I think BB has already mailed it in eying first overall.

Re: Observations from the Saints win vs Patriots
Basically, the Saints played against themselves (the patriots) today, and won. :beatnik:

Do we need to win 68-0 for the haters to give any credit? Probably not. It's like we win and it pisses the haters off even more like they want us to lose so they have more to ***** about.
:D Oh, well. I thought we played a great game on the road and Carr looked like the shoulder was much better off this week. |
Re: Observations from the Saints win vs Patriots
Good win with this team doing what it is expected when they play a team that has a lack of talent at all the skill positions.
Play calling was better but we were 5 of 15 on 3rd down and 2 of those were because of tremendous individual effort. Carr to Thomas, tight throw great catch and Kamara on a short throw then AK magic. So just 3 short yardage 3rd down pickups. Better than last week but this has to get better. Celebrate, enjoy and on to Houston and another win. |

Thomas keeps making those big plays. We have been missing those key first downs.

Re: Observations from the Saints win vs Patriots
-Showed up against a lesser team.
-Patriots are terrible. Belichick was good with Brady. Payton was good with Brees. -Kamara AND Miller looked good. -Defense is the truth. -Thomas is ballin. |

And they poke at you in particular because you're exactly the opposite. Regardless of record, or how they've recently played, or the current construction of the team, you will look to the Saints with hopeful optimism. They see a train wreck. You see an opportunity to improve the landscape grateful that no one was killed. Just leave them alone man. You can't win. They write furiously about how contracts are constructed in such a way that it's difficult to get rid of what they consider "problem" players who are not model citizens in their eyes, and coaches and front office that have established life long relationships to each other and the owner. None of that has value to them, and it hinders their ability to blow up the whole thing and start over. So, win or lose, season or off-season, no matter what the move is, it's wrong to them. And it's never going to change. So, go on back and put them on ignore once again so you don't have to be bothered with it. They are a lot like my brother. To him, the most beautiful drive in Saints history is the last 8:00 in the 4th quarter where Deuce shoved the ball right down the Eagles throats in the playoffs. Total domination running the ball. He desperately wants every Saints team to be that 24/7. The play last year where Taysom lined up with a fullback and 3 TE's: https://youtu.be/lp088n_H2pI?si=7s__EUemHDNkLkEr&t=169 is absolutely the best play in Saints history to him. Pete Carmichael drives him absolutely nuts because this type of power football is not used in obvious situations. So my brother complains, and complains, and complains. And I keep explaining that it's simply not in Carmichael's playcalling DNA, that we have 16 years of evidence of that, and that it's not going to change. It's exactly the same way for the haters. This has been the Saints for over 20 years, and it's not going to change. So, they will continue to complain, complain, and complain no matter what happens today or tomorrow. Now, I have to deal with my brother. I mean, he's my brother. But you (we, anyone here) really don't need to deal with the folks that are convinced that the Saints are a trash heap. SFIAH |

Saints win convincingly against the Texans.... They proving me wrong... if not, .... oh well. :beatnik: I expect them to win...convincingly.

Re: Observations from the Saints win vs Patriots
I think the only thing keeping this team from its Superbowl aspirations is bad HCing and horrible playcalling. Dennis Allen does a great job with the defense, but he's not a head coach. He's too in his head, overthinks things, plays probabilities, etc. Being a head coach requires you to have a pulse on the team, which he lacks completely. The playcalling is still horrible regardless of whether it was effective today. Carr can throw the football though, and hopefully, some people will get off his back a bit.

At this point the Saints' biggest problem is consistency. The offense sputters sometimes. The defense plays great for 3 quarters, then seems to let go of the rope. The punter booms some great balls inside the 5, then shanks one. Actually Groupe has been the most consistent. But even he could not pull it off when all the chips were down. Today we saw all three phases work together consistently for an entire game. Really good to see. But as you rightly ask, can they do it again? And again after that? That's what it's going to take to really elevate this team to where we would like to see them go. SFIAH |

Always great to get a win, but when it happens more ‘consistently’ against better to good teams, then I’ll be more optimistic and feel like we’re playing up to what I and many feel we have with this team and I’ll stop being a ‘hater’🙄 |

I’m happy for the day. We got a dominant, blowout win on the road. If this was truly a train wreck we would have found a way to lose it. I still want a new offensive coordinator at the very least.

How long will it last though? Still got the Jags, Lions, Rams, Bucs (again) & Falcons TWICE. < These are the only true contenders I see on the schedule. 2012 Pete Carmichael still ain't it though. |

We got it together as the game went on... You can't sit and tell me we looked great. Those overthrown balls, bad calls, (play calling by us), etc won't cut it when playoffs happen. Everything is in place, just need to mold more. We see slight glimpses of it.
Let's get it against the Texans next week. I'm in Houston and idk if I can handle being bashed the way the Texans bash the Cowboys here. Seriously, Texans fans are worse than Cowboys fans. |

Look, when the initial reports on the drama around MT's injury and the coaches came out, I was hard on him too. I believed what was written and wanted him off the team. But since then, it's impossible not to see how coaches, players and reporters alike have all supported MT and echoed his importance to this team. A Prima Donna is defined as "A temperamental, conceited person". All I've seen from MT is a guy who supports his coaches, fights for his team and wants to win more than anything else. At this point you're grinding an axe that running out of metal |

Those tight windows, with accuracy. The first TD pass was amazing. A 7th rounder? QB? Going against a tough, experienced Dallas defense? That’s why many Saints fans are tired of the excuses on why we can’t get it done with the level of talent. And their defense hasn’t skipped a beat without Demeco. Coaching is top tier though . Niners, Philly & Dallas are tough outs in the NFC. |
