We need winners in New Orleans. Not substitute teachers. Better believe Dan Campbell won't go light on a team (Saints) that fanned him off in a meaningless HC interview a few years back. Sunday is gonna be brutal to watch. Especially for the Saints fans. |

Leave all nepotism in the rearview mirror.... Fire everybody! Incidentally, there are plenty of up and coming coaches who would want to coach here. Does anybody remember when we hired an assistant named Payton who turned the franchise around? |
Re: DENNIS ALLEN…
Not a fan of Cowherd but I mostly agree with his comments regarding the Saints coaching.
Front office better wake up. |

"I don't like their coach"
Welcome to the club. |
Re: DENNIS ALLEN…
Cowherd said "undercoached" but I'm thinking it's more like "uncoached"

The Saints need an alpha like Harbaugh or some other Mike Tomlin type. I think Antonio Pierce is that guy. |

Re: DENNIS ALLEN…
So is he gone yet? Nope. Not even close…

Re: DENNIS ALLEN…
Just as TheOak stated in another thread, in only 2 short seasons the substitute teacher has completely reversed a winning culture.
Jimmy G plays, produces in the red-zone and never targeted again. Jamal Williams was a scoring machine last year, this season all of sudden he disappears with this offense. It would be absolutely ridiculous to even consider bringing back Dennis Allen & company. This clown 🤡 still thinks DCarr is immune to criticism. Get real coaching in NOLA. |
Re: DENNIS ALLEN…
I'm well beyond feeling any degree of apathy towards this team.....please fire everyone so I can feel good about getting out of bed again.

Re: DENNIS ALLEN…
.323 career record as HC.
The defense has played poorly as well. New direction is needed and necessary in NOLA. |

I just can't look at this guy anymore! Everything about him screams Loser at me. I actually have to fast forward the video. As a head coach he sucks but he's a good DC. I wish him good luck elsewhere.
Anyway, Fire Dennis Allen! |
Re: DENNIS ALLEN…
We should replace DA but DA is only 5-10% of the problem. The biggest factor this offseason is whether we accept reality and begin a rebuild or keep drinking the Mickey Loomis Seagrams VO Koolaid and 'make it happen' to add a few 'missing pieces'. I would be happy to settle for keeping DA another year if we can do the responsible thing this offseason and use every ounce of cap flexibility we have to move on from aging, injury prone, or ineffective players while not trading any future draft picks.
If a coach like Reid, Sirianni, or Shannahan slept with the owners daughter and was suddenly cut loose and became our new coach it would not help us much. Perhaps we would make the playoffs but all it would get us is a more respectable margin of loss to the real contenders there. We are not built to win with a mediocre qb, no pass rush, a makeshift oline, and one of the oldest rosters in the NFL, no matter what we have at other positions. If we got one of those coaches and immediately went 'all in' signing Adams or Higgins at WR, trading our 2025 1st round pick for Aaron Donald, and drafting Brock Bowers with our 1st, it would not matter, because we would still be an old team with questions at QB, OL, and pass rush. No coach will win it all with that. And the cost to do it would leverage us so much that Carr would be our QB in 2027 with all the money we push back. What we need to do is cut some of the pricey aging vets and avoid restructuring some such as Lattimore and Ramczyk who are likely to hit a wall and become washed sometime in the next few years. We still have to restructure 2/3rds of them to get under the cap, but by only restructuring 2/3rds and using the rest of the money to move on from some, we open up the possibility for a youth movement in 2024-2025 that can still be competitive if we draft a lot of young players instead of trading up, and a clean slate in 2026 with tons of upside. I hope DA is not the coach in 2024, but whether he is or isn't matters to me 10x less than cleaning the slate on our cap mess. We can't keep rinsing and repeating on the senior tour roster. Every year it continues the damage is deeper. |

There's a nuclear option to clear most of it next season. Though it leaves little cap in the next 2 years(4ml/21ml roughly) and probably a guaranteed number 1 pick for 2 seasons All players in gold or pink traded/cut. Its not going to happen as its absolute nuclear blow it up and Loomis would essentially be saying he has made mistakes |
Re: DENNIS ALLEN…
We've got a mid first round pick, Denver's second round pick and then we don't pick again until the fifth round. After that we've got two sixth round picks.
We don't have much ammo to work with to give a new HC a decent roster. So, we'll give DA more rope to hang himself and spend everything to win the division next year...... If DA is here next year, then Loomis will have to go all in again and we are stuck in this vicious circle for another year. And that is what scares me the most! Another year of doing what we're doing! We can't get the cap under control until we fire Dennis Allen and clear out the bad contracts off the cap. |

Per wikipedia "The NFL's cap is a hard cap that the teams have to stay under at all times, and the salary floor is also a hard floor. Penalties for violating or circumventing the cap regulations include fines of up to $5 million for each violation, cancellation of contracts and/or loss of draft picks." Reading further into this, the loss of draft picks is not even the worst thing that could happen to the Saints if the salary cap was willfully exceeded. The NFL could force the Saints to 'cancel contracts' to get under the cap. This does not mean like canceling Derek Carr's horrible contract with guaranteed salary that would actually increase our cap number, it would likely mean cutting the contracts that are not guaranteed and that don't come with dead cap that would exceed the savings. Sounds great we would want to cut those anyway right? Well no. You see the main contracts for us that fit in the category where the base salary exceeds the dead cap are recent day 2 draft picks who did not get big bonuses or base salaries and don't yet have a lot of prorated money that would create dead cap if they were cut to save on their base salaries. Cutting Paulson Adebo saves us $1.3 million. Cutting Pete Werner saves us 1.4 milion. Cutting Alontae Taylor saves us $0.8 million. Cutting Erik McCoy saves us $0.9 millon. Cutting Jordan Howden saves us $0.7 million. If the Saints willfully exceeded the salary cap, the NFL could theoretically forfeit their 2024 and 2025 draft picks and cancel the above contracts while blocking them from signing any players until after June 1 and fining them $5 million an undetermined number of times depending on what they consider each seperate violation. |

Doubt there will be a new head coach
Amd even if tbe opening was there I'm not sure many really good candidates would take it. They'd be behind the 8 ball to start with. Couldn't sign FA or have many draft picks to play with. It's not a enticing job. You be under pressure and out tbe door by year 3 when you would start to have your team |
