I believe it was NOF that said if DA fires Carmichael midseason, then the pressure is on him to turn things around the rest of the year and it is squarely on his shoulders to fix i now. If Carmichael stays, then Allen has a scapegoat and his job might be safe for another year while they groom the new OC to take over. God, I hope not.
