Poll: If you could fire one today?

Re: Poll: If you could fire one today?
I have a feeling that a lot of people would fire Dennis Allen. My answer though would be Mickey Loomis because I believe the problems come from the top first. Loomis hired Allen, went all in on Carr, made various disaster draft trades, went all in to get DeShawn Watson before Carr, kept Pete Carmichael this offseason even when he knew Pete has been trying to retire, maxxed out our cap year after year, and refused to rebuild. I think Mickey Loomis should go first, in-season, because I don't want him have any influence over who replaces anybody else.
I also think its at least possible that Allen, Carmichael, and Carr could have more success under a different GM. Some workers are only motivated if their boss above them exerts some amount of pressure and expectations and asks specific questions about their goals and deadlines. If their boss is their friendliest excuse brainstorming partner ever who just offers them more accomodations the more they fall behind, they coast and go out to lunch. Loomis is that boss, and that cascades downward in the organization. It's possible Allen and Carr would demand specific answers and take accountability if that was modeled from above. Its possible Payton was self motivated and that all came down from him all these years while Mickey Loomis had a beer with Jimmy Buffet and said if we lose, oh well, its not our fault, lets hit the beach, and only Payton's inherent self motivation kept us above water with a front office ready to accept any excuse to go home early and pop a cold one once Tom Benson was out of the picture. I also think firing the GM would have the benefit of not having to change the system mid season. We could have the same system, except with someone at the top demanding specific fixes not meaningless platitudes, and that attitude being projected down on everyone. |

I would vote for DA but I completely agree with your assessment about Loomis. However, my fear is that Benson would never fire him because that would put too much football pressure on her to find a new GM. I would imagine Loomis is here until a sell goes through or he will be responsible for hiring next GM. I’m not in Nola so don’t know all the in’s and out’s of who could fire Loomis other than Benson. Are you guys aware of who that might be?

Because of the way the question was worded with "the rest of the season to turn it around", I voted DA.
But if it said I could fire one to get the franchise moving in the right direction, then it's Mickey. |

So, who would be the heir apparent for the remainder of the season if you fire DA? (Hint: it's usually one of the coordinators.)
I trust DA's defensive calls more than the offensive calls being made by PC. That ain't saying much! |

I voted Loomis. Get a GM that has a hate for losing and has balls to make necessary moves to build a winning organization. Everything else will fall into place
