Re: Ramczyk’s Future In Doubt
I am just going to throw this out here even though it is sad to say in some ways. If the sole goal of the Saints front office was to win as many games as possible and get as much offensive production as possible without trading future 1st round picks or nuking the salary cap, there could be another option to improve at the offensive tackle position. While trading Lattimore is not going to get us anywhere with finding a tackle because he is already overpaid for his availability and ability, Lattimore is not the only player the Saints control on their roster. Although it would be a major blow to the team to trade an asset like Paulson Adebo or Chris Olave, their backups are much much better than Ryan Ramczyk or Andrus Peat's backups, and they would carry real trade value that could potentially net the Saints a young starting tackle or a high draft pick to acquire one. Of course one would rather trade Lattimore or Kamara, etc, but aging veterans on expensive contracts do not have as much trade value as name recognition. Bresee could be another option. If another NFL GM takes the positive view that his 2023 sack total was impressive and not the negative view that his PFF scores were mediocre and he is still listed as a backup, perhaps they would trade a late 1st round pick or starting tackle for him.
Perry or Taylor may not be great, but they sound a lot better as starters than Penning or Young.
