Then again, they might think he sucks too.
Maybe the people who hired Dennis Allen are more reluctant to admit hiring Dennis Allen was a mistake than the people who didn't hire Dennis Allen.

There is a difference between access / vantage point and smarts. The guy who built that Titan Submersible knew more about it than any of the outsiders or consultants who were concerned about its safety, but his additional information, access, and vantage point did not translate to a sound evaluation, because he also had the most biased view and the most invested in his previous course proving right and visionary, so he could not see the flaws because he had too much invested. The Saints front office, coaching staff, salary cap structure, and aging roster are kind of like the Titan Submersible. The guy who built it believes it can withstand pressures down to 4,000 meters, but outsiders see the warning signs and can hear the walls cracking after 3 straight years of league leading spending for mediocre results and an aging core.

Kind of dark analogy, but it’s makes a good point regardless.

I certainly hope that’s not the case, but I’m sure we’ll know more when the season begins.

Has anyone even heard of anyone even remotely interested in the OC job here? Or anyone the Saints are looking at?

Cause it’s quiet….too quiet. Lol!

Klint Kubiak, Zac Robinson, Ronald Curry, and Mike Sullivan are among the names of those interviewed so far.

Edit: Here's an updated list of OC interviewees by the Saints:

- *Shane Waldron, Seahawks OC
- Zac Robinson, Rams QBs coach
- Dan Pitcher, Bengals QBs coach
- Jerrod Johnson, Texans QBs coach
- Klint Kubiak, 49ers pass game specialist
- Brian Griese, 49ers QBs coach
- Ronald Curry, Saints QBs coach

We need a new Head Coach and a new GM… and most likely a new OWNER.

Some top candidates may only interview in order to create leverage so that the team they really want to join offers them a better contract or makes an offer quicker. I don't think we are the top destination with a potentially lame duck coach, poor oline, a salary cap situation that means we cannot get rid of existing veterans who don't fit the hires system or are discontent, less money to spend in free agency than any other team, and missing several draft picks.

However, we may not be the worst situation, with at least an average QB, some talented weapons, and low expectations. Mike McCarthy made it work as OC under Jim Haslett, although DA is probably a slightly worse head coach than Haslett.

I think we will eventually lure a second tier candidate who wants to bet on themselves or an experienced hire with a mediocre track record looking for another shot. If worst comes to worst we will hire the internal candidate but that is a loss. Going with an internal candidate when your problem is your system is antiguated and other teams are innovating quickly is a cop out. If you want the best chance for a fix you have to go with someone from the outside.

That’s it in a nutshell right there. ^^^
