Remember the 1973 season? John North made his debut as head coach of the Saints.

It did not go well.

The Falcons demolished the Saints 62-7 as Atlanta head coach Norm Van Brocklin gleefully enjoyed running up the score on a day when Atlanta intercepted Archie Manning five times.

Leading 45-7, Atlanta had Nick Mike-Mayer kick a 45-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. Then, reserve quarterback Bob Lee threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to LSU’s Eddie Ray to make it 55-7 before a 1-yard rushing touchdown by Ray accounted for the final score. The Falcons kept trying to score. There were no apologies.

North, a class act, handled the beating and clear running up of the score with class and dignity and moved on. At one point, the Saints won four of five games after starting 0-3 and finished 5-9, losing the season finale in narrow fashion, 14-10 at Atlanta in the rematch.

When did the NFL become so soft? The game is 60 minutes and you play till the final gun. Well at one time they did. No one would have said a word if Sean Payton were coach. He probably would have gone for 2 after!!

Dennis Allen should have been fired like Arthur Smith was!! How does it feel Failclowns?

I will add that although I really didnt like DAs decision to kneel it, and I understand why the team chose to override the play, I don’t fully condone how they did it, mainly because players on the other side that aren’t expecting it can get seriously injured. It reminds me of when former Bucs coach Greg Schiano used to pull that crap, but on the defensive side of the ball. I get you play to the whistle, but wasn’t a big fan of that.
I just wish DA had the balls to just run it in and make a statement, especially if by some chance you make it into the playoffs, that would be a nice way to get your team primed up to at least try and make a run

No control, no authority, no one respects this man.

Hence, the substitute.

Loomis better wake up.

Meanwhile, Jacksonville (they embarassed us in 2023) finishes second in their division & misses out on the post season.

Guess what ownership does this morning? Jags fire the ENTIRE defensive coaching staff including the DC.

Teams that failed, missed out on the post season, under achieved are making moves to improve. But you have a N.O Saints organization that is committed to remaining mediocre & miss out on post season.

Sitting on their hands, hoping and wishing with no real plan.

Sad.

They can hide and ignore the fans and public opinion. What they can’t run from are the hungry talented players that have a career in front of them, when they start asking to be traded is when someone will have to get off their ass and do their job.

Like Lattimore? I think most of us agree that if we had to choose between Marshon and Dennis Allen we'd unanimously vote to keep Marshon.
What is the front office thinking?
