Hardly surprising.
We're stuck. |

When is DA leaving....?

Re: New Orleans Saints part ways with three assistant coaches
I’m happy for the moment.

Re: New Orleans Saints part ways with three assistant coaches
The Saints fired a guy who didn't even want the job.
All we are doing is reshuffling deck chairs on the Titanic. |

Glad to see the move made at OC. I think this buys DA another year.
Mr. Carmichael, thank for your service, best of luck in the future. |
Re: New Orleans Saints part ways with three assistant coaches
Is this where Gruden gets hired for OC??
|
Re: New Orleans Saints part ways with three assistant coaches
Enter Bienemie?

Re: New Orleans Saints part ways with three assistant coaches
While the three may have needed to go, the fact that DA is not on top of that list and is the one thanking Pete for 18 years is absolutely shocking and in poor taste.
18 loyal years and the person thanking you is the one that should have been held ultimately accountable for the teams performance. I’m genuinely confused here. Does this mean we are or are not going to “continue doing what we are doing”? |
Re: New Orleans Saints part ways with three assistant coaches
I'm so intrigued to see who wants to attach their name to Dennis Allen.

If the Cowboys fire McCarthy we should snatch him up as OC while his stock is low. Rejuvenate our offense and hopefully soon usurp Dennis Allen. I think McCarthy would do better in New Orleans which is not a pressure cooker market like Dallas.

A SB winning coach coming off 3 straight 12 win seasons ain't coordinating nothing in NOLA. |
Re: New Orleans Saints part ways with three assistant coaches
I’m glad PC is gone.
We all knew DA was staying. But at least Pete is gone. Good grief he was awful. |

Re: New Orleans Saints part ways with three assistant coaches
I'm happy PC is gone. The O was terrible. I did like what Burns did for the WR's. Olave had 1,000 yard, Shahid played big, AT Perry was coming along nicely so I wouldn't mind if we kept him around. Overall poor playing calling all around. Anyone know how many OC's Carr has gone through? Sooner or later you have to look at the QB and prepare for the future

Where is Dougie Marrone's pink slip?
That Oline has regressed. There is no way all of those former 1st/2nd rounders are that bad. |

Clearly the axe blades of Pete and these offensive assistants were dull and their piles of lumber too small for DA's wood chopping regimen.

Re: New Orleans Saints part ways with three assistant coaches
Cost versus production. Do we really want Michael Thomas to return? Good luck to the rest of your career... somewhere else.

Its a step in the right direction at least. OC was a major problem all season long. |

Re: New Orleans Saints part ways with three assistant coaches
Mike McCarthy and Jon Gruden would bring in SB experience with similar West Coast schemes. That’s not what I want, but I understand if the organization would want that based on their track record.
I wouldn’t even want Eric Bienemy at this point as an OC. He deserves to at least get a shot at a HC gig and I’d hate to see him over making yet another lateral move. I like Klint Kubiak. I like the idea of Ronald Curry getting a chance. Whatever we do, I just hope it’s the right move. |

Maybe I'm operating on emotion a little bit here, but the aspect of hiring McCarthy or Gruden is the message bringing in a former Super Bowl winner sends to DA ... get your SHIp together because now we've got an over-qualified OC/interim hot and ready to take your seat. I very much like that. |
Re: New Orleans Saints part ways with three assistant coaches
How in the hell does Doug Marrone still have a job in New Orleans? Black Monday was yesterday! Some progress was made in pass protection along the O line as the year went on but the run game never got any better after a truly abysmal start to the season. Nick Saban fired him after one year and yet he's still here coaching a unit at the bottom of the NFL after two years. I just don't get it!

Gayle and Loomis identified Jeff Ireland, Dennis Lauscha, Khai Harley, and Michael Parenton as those who selected Dennis Allen. Should we expect the same quality of a decision for these three spots as they have for HC? Who is left that has the knowledge and understanding to identify the building blocks of our future offense? According to Loomis, Dennis was selected because of his “leadership skills, teaching skills, and football acumen”. None of which has been on display the last two seasons. |

When Payton left, apparently he took the leadership role with him. At this point I believe that the front office could use some new blood there too to help bring in a fresh perspective.....especially in the draft room! |
Re: New Orleans Saints part ways with three assistant coaches
FYI, former Saints RB coach Joel Thomas was hired by the Giants today.

I like that its all the assistants and co-ordinators that have been the issue and not the man in charge of them. I guess football is just like real life, never the top guys fault

Re: New Orleans Saints part ways with three assistant coaches
Texans OC Bobby Slowik (Shanahan coaching tree) - 36 years old
Joe Bleymaier (current KC passing coordinator) - 41 years of old Go find a young, talented, out of the box thinkers. These guys are helping their respective teams compete in the post season. Familiar names from yesteryear isn’t good enough in today’s NFL. |
