Mahomes is a constant reminder of what coulda shoulds if you believe what speweth from SP's mouth regarding what he thought of Mahomes predraft, yet didn't move up for in that said same draft.

Kelce's Pfizer commercial is actually the most annoying thing about the Chiefs, not Taylor Swift.

The merger of “Pop” Music and “Pro Sports” and commercial advertising has never had such a golden opportunity at crowd control, or mind control, as it is having right now, and it is playing out right in front of our eyes.

The old geezers who miss the good old days of hard knocks muddy and ugly football, are dying out, and no longer part of a relevant targeted market demographic. The game is changing to reflect that. It is becoming more and more attractive to the “Swifties”, who are all too eager to swipe their credit cards and tune into whatever new hype and hypnosis is being orchestrated. It’s a brilliant business model that molds minds and sells product, well outside the fields we are observing.

It’s no wonder that other teams exist simply to support this orchestration. The auto industry is not returning to Detroit, so the Lions will play little more than a convincing supporting role in this theatrical production. Baltimore is not going to be making any revolutionary headlines anytime soon, so they will be strong contenders for “best supporting actor” in this screenplay. All the gold is gone in San Francisco, so they too will fall. Kansas City is middle America and Mahomes has been a Media golden boy for some time already, so Kelce and Swifty blowing kisses at each other, is prime time Disney Channel material, that the entire game has manipulated and maneuvered the audience to be captivated by.

I would love nothing more than to be proven wrong, and welcome all the criticism possible for my rant, but seeing my beloved Saints slowly sink into a swamp of obscurity (by design), has forced me to look at this whole “game” in a radically different manner. Every flag thrown, every bad call, missed call, stupid coaching decision, points spread, press conference, all of it… scripted.

It’s just business.

Rant Over.

Let’s see what happens…

I totally agree. The nfl has become a reality show. The "CHEFS" have become the new patriots of the nfl and Mahomes the new Tom Brady as well as Andy Reid the new Bellichick. I won't be watching the SB this year.

Is it true, though? Why was Spags so unsuccessful with the Saints, yet much better with his other stints at other teams? Can't really blame RG for that, even though we'd like to. Has to be talent and the talent gathering team, right?

You need a partner that is willing to take what you have to offer to move down more than what someone else has to offer.

The thing is, Mahomes is amazing, Andy Reid is a winning Coach, the Chiefs are a proven Championship caliber team, and the partnering with all things show biz and commercial advertisements is going to mold a lot of minds and move a LOT of money. All of that aside, our Saints are barely mediocre, and doing nearly nothing about it. So here we aren’t.

The Bills had that 10th pick that the Chiefs traded up for. KC gave them the 2017 #27 and a 3rd rounder, as well as the first rounder in 2018. The Saints were sitting that one pick away. It would have cost us 2017 #11 and our #1 in 2018 IF the Bill would have even considered trading with us.

With the Saints' and SP's history of trading up, they didn't bother to make this kind of offer. That's the point of the hypocrisy of SP's utterances.

Maybe we should ask what the Whole Foods Meat Guy has to say since he might have been SP's sounding board once or twice. :chef:

When Goodell forced Payton out for a year the Saints put Spagnuolo in at head coach and from then on it was a circus. That whole bounty debacle screwed the Saints for many years.

Who's to say they didn't try to move up? Then again, they were only one pick away. Nobody expected KC to come out of nowhere to jump up 17 spots. I could just see the anger of the fans if Payton had mortgaged the farm to move up one spot for a QB that wasn't projected to be anything special.

Honestly, it was simply a good move by Reid and company that could not have been prevented by anyone other than a mind-reading, future-seeing mystic. :D

Who’s to say that they didn’t try to win more games with “all the right people in the building”? Who’s to say that they haven’t tried to ensure that they have a winning season next year? Who’s to say that we are expected to accept barely being mediocre and continuing to $uck @ss a little les than a few other teams?

WE DAT.

We gotta quit pining over Mahomes as a missed opportunity. I'm not convinced Payton or the Saints org would've handled Patrick as well as Reid and the Chiefs have. The only quality QB the Saints have ever developed in 55 years to any degree at all was Delhomme.

We can only use SP's history in previous drafts to surmise anything. And historically, SP was aggressive in pursuing even marginal oft injured college talent, no matter the position of need. Many of those have worked out... and many of those have failed as well, or the Saints weren't patient enough. Although in this day of ridiculously high salaries, can a team really afford to hold players' hand for three years before the produce? It took Ingram (cost of 2 number 1s) 3 full seasons before the light came on, and Karama and a go right away.

And if you look back at the 2017 draft there are a lot of what-ifs. TJ Watt was drafted 2 spots ahead of Ram, and Cooper Kupp was drafted 2 spots behind Kamara. While we missed on Maholmes we could have taken Watson who was also elite earlier, and who could have known Watson would become a sex offender and that Maholmes wasn't raised that way and never could (except that his brother did)?

In general I think if you have an elite franchise QB its best to try to win it all with them not use high value picks for a long term replacement plan. There is no evidence that drafting a QB of the future before your elite QB of the present leaves the building accomplishes anything more than running out the priors rookie contract sooner. It happened to work out for the Packers but for example the Texans had an elite QB in Watson, waited until he was gone, then drafted an elite QB in Stroud, and they get Stroud cheaper for longer at a younger age to start winning sooner.
