Re: Disappointed but not Discouraged
I think I’m willing to look at shortcomings the team may/do have. I realize I’m not making my living with anything remotely related to the NFL,
So I am no “expert”. That being said, it seems to me that this is an incredibly hard league to win in. Look at a few teams and their end of the year for example. Buffalo. Good QB. Has been solid in the regular season. Won a few playoff games. But they folded again and it brings back memories of the Jim Kelly Bills and a team that NEVER got over the hump. Philly. Another team who seemed to have it going with a talented young QB. But they folded down the stretch again, and could not get the final job done. whether or not they will stay. Competitive time will tell. Minnesota. A team that is beat us multiple times in the playoffs. But they are looking at possibly resigning Kurt cousins or rebuilding, and looking for another quarterback, to start the franchise with This is just a couple of examples. I live up here where New England has just had two terrible seasons in a row, and I wondering where they are going to go from here as a franchise. One of my best friends is a Jets fan and he had to watch the Aaron Rodgers experiment blew up in his face. The remaining teams have had seasons of four or less wins, which gave them chances to restock their roster. The biggest problem I see with the Saints is the draft picks. We’ve made on both sides of the line of scrimmage have not panned out especially early pics. Dennis Allen might not be the guy. He’s probably not. But if the definition of “the guy” is winning a Super Bowl, then practically no other coach in the league is going to be the guy. Dennis Allen had the same number or more wins than Sean, Payton and Bill Belichick this year. Does that mean he’s a better coach than them? Of course not. But a lot of teams are in a lot worse shape. |
You think you know, but you don’t know...and you never will! Coach Jim Mora

I'll guarantee you that several other fanbases would rather be in our shoes right now and they wouldn't be off base.

To me, “our guy” is a leader of men who commands respect and players want to run through brick walls for. When the players chose to override Allen on that last play against the Falcons, that sealed the deal for me on him ever being our guy. I’m convinced he’s just not head Coach material, and that’s ok…plenty of really good OCs and DCs have tried and failed. I think two main reasons he even hit nine wins is because of a strong roster combined with a weak schedule. If I’m not mistaken, we only beat sub .500 teams…or maybe one barely above .500. Sorry, not impressed. Could a really good OC come in and turn things around? Maybe. Definitely not out of the realm of possibilities. But I’m still not big on Allen being “our guy” even if so |
