Disappointed but not Discouraged

That sentence sums up my take on the season. Trying to rebound from my personal grief I’ll try to add some thoughts. Although I’m not sure people want to hear them.

I am disappointed we did not do better this year. But we had a winning record. We tied with Tampa, who won a playoff game. We lost to Houston who also won a playoff game. We lost to Detroit who is in the NFC championship game. I think the concept of a “soft schedule “ was disproven.

We were competitive in all our games. We got a QB that the coach wanted and we won 2 more games with him than we did the year before. If he is protected I think Carr is as good as Geoff, Baker, Love, or other QBs for playoff teams. He was what was available and the team made a move for him. If we end up sucking and get a top 6 pick we can look then at a QB. But I don’t think that will happen.

Fact is the team has had a win now attitude for many years and while it only brought 1 1/2 Championships it has also brought a team that has won at least 7 games every season for about 20 years. Most other teams (ALL except for one other) has had a 2-5 win season or 2 to get a chance at a high draft pick and reset their cap. The Saints have taken a different rout and decided to not put a ****ty product on the field that would be irrelevant by week 9 of the season. As a fan I appreciate them, not throwing in the towel on any given season. We’ve got a new offensive coordinator coming in, and that shows that they recognized weaknesses.

I guess bottom line is I don’t see the doom and gloom that some others feel. But, obviously time will tell

You think you know, but you don’t know...and you never will! Coach Jim Mora

Thanks, Boston. Hang in there. And your thoughts on the season pretty much echo mine.

My sincere condolences for your loss first and foremost, and for our shared loss as a team… again.

Remember, it’s just a game.

Re: Disappointed but not Discouraged

Hope things will get better for you Boston.

This year due to working extra hours on my project I was only able to watch just the Saints games nationally/locally available - Jags, Vikings, Detroit, Rams, first Falcons game. In all those games the Saints and especially Carr were a big mess and lost. I only got to see the team at its worst and I'm hoping next season it doesn't go down like that.

You got to see Pete Carmichael at his worst, neuguy. I saw every game except for the Detroit game at home in person and all the rest on TV and I saw some good stuff from Carr when Pete actually got his head out of his ass. LOL!

Re: Disappointed but not Discouraged

The team has good, young talent at WR and in the defensive backfield. It really depends on the O line. If Carr hadn’t got hurt and/or our run game was a little bit better, then we’d been a playoff team.

Re: Disappointed but not Discouraged

I understand where you’re coming from, however My “doom and gloom” comes from frustration due to the potential we had as a team that was thrown away because of not having proper coaching, management, and a owner who gives af in place imo. Yes we had a winning record, but for what we invested in the team in the offseason to only having two more wins from last year is disappointing. I expected more I guess, and rightly so. But then again I expected Allen to be fired, and yet here we are. I shouldn’t be surprised really…
I’m always hopeful every year, but losing optimism due to two poor seasons under Allen with the talent we have in place. Only time will tell

Not to take any significance away from the deeply personal part of Boston’s process, and with all due respect, that aside, it was doom and gloom way back when Drew was in decline, and between Jameis, Andy, and Derek, and most of all Dennis, with Mickey stating that we had all the right people in the building, we are beyond doom and gloom, watching other teams in the Playoffs. Again. Y’all can have high hopes for a mediocre season next year, because if nothing else, loyal Saints Fans are resilient. Doom and gloom is a reality that we’ll have to live with for years to come. I called it when Drew walked off, I called it when Payton fled the scene, I called it all year last year, and all year this year, and Im calling it now. Call me “NEGA” or chicken little all you like, but the sky done fell, and it AINT rising in New Orleans, with these people in the building.
