Re: Official 2024 Saints Draft Discussion
With the Saints dire situation at oline, I also think it would be reasonable to consider trading young highly valuable players at deeper positions for extra draft picks. I do no want to trade future draft picks because those are valued a lot less.
It the Saints traded Adebo or Olave for an additional 1st round pick, it might be a crushing blow to lose a player like that, but it might also be a net gain. It might even make sense to trade Bresee for a similar pick to take an oline. Ultimately I would trust Lattimore and Taylor or even Shaheed and Perry to hold down the fort more than I trust Penning, Saldiveri, and Young. Ultimately a 2025 1st round draft pick trades at a 50% discount to a 2024 pick, but young players are worth more in trade than they will be later, and the Saints have had past success trading fan favorites like Graham, Cooks, or Williams for 1st round picks. I don't believe Lattimore has significant trade value. |
