Re: 14 Years Ago Today - XLIV
Amazing time. When Hartley made the kick to send them to the Super Bowl, cried, hopped in my car and drove to Bourbon St from Tuscaloosa. Arrived about 3am and it was still crazy. Sat down in a bar and the server told me after the kick, a guy stripped down to his tighty whities and took off running. Never came back. LOL. Partied for 3 days. The Super Bowl itself, I kinda remember just being in shock.

Re: 14 Years Ago Today - XLIV
Many obvious memories from that game, however there's one that I don't think is talked about enough and that's how Pierre Thomas sparked the offense.
We don't win this game if not for him, and I don't just mean the TD. He caught a pass from Brees 2 yards behind the LOS and broke 4 tackles for a 12 yard gain. To open up the second half, he took a dump off pass up the middle for another first, breaking 3 tackles. Then that magical screen TD, showcased all his abilities in one. Absolutely phenomenal player that I think Payton didn't nearly utilize enough. |

Ambush! Now, that is my favorite moment of an incredible day for Saints fans. Porter and his pick six sealed the deal but the gutsy call for Ambush turned the game in our favor and is still the boldest call ever in the NFL.

Re: 14 Years Ago Today - XLIV
I was a friend’s house, SB party and we live in the same neighborhood.
At 2 nd or 3 rd qrtr, I had to drive home, just lay down in the sofa just to be quiet n hear n see no one for a bit. I had to talk to myself…coach myself…” If I watch, does it matter? If I d not watch, does it matter, the outcome of the game? Ok, I am missing out on everyone and the game so go back.” Seriously. Nerves, hyperventilating…I just needed a minute. That 4 th qrtr….looking, talking…I was putting away food, cleaning the kitchen the last 2-3 mins. Their kitchen , counter, and then den were all in one so I was still in front of the tv , but , far enough away, After the , at 4 th qrtr, 0:00, everybody laughing, hugging, screaming, crying, inside, outside the front yard n backyard….their neighbors knew that was a Daints fan’s hous becaus outsid was decorated Saints…..everybody trying to call others in area code 504 and hearing, “ I am sorry. All circuits are busy. Please try your call again later…”Something like the recording said. Unbelievable time. |
