Carr Makes the Parade!

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Twitter Twitter I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this one. Carr as the "Red Zone Zombie" is creative and yet, not far from the mark in 2023. Here's to praying that the OC is the issue....

I would think it had a lot to do with it. There were plenty of times I could lay in my couch and know exactly what was coming the next play. And I don't study nearly as much as the opponents.

Pete Carmichael could not use the weapons that the Saints gave him last year. I have a feeling that Kubiak will find ways to use his playmakers that Carmichael couldn't.

The old play book was stale. I can't wait to see the new one unfold. Who Dat!

You give me that kind of money for performing at that level, and I’ll laugh so hard, all my ribs will be broken.

Re: Carr Makes the Parade!

Actually its $120 million to go. $30 million in 2024, $30 million + $10 million roster bonus in 2025, and $50 million in 2026, if Mickey Loomis keeps managing the cap how he does now that $50 million might as well be fully guaranteed because we won't have any option but to convert it to a bonus in a restructure in 2026 to kick the can. Also that $120 million does not count $22.8 million that was prorated in 2023 to future years. So for salary cap purposes $142.8 million to go, until the inevitable extension to push out the restructures increases it.

That's some serious math right there. I didn't know there would be math when I logged in today.

Everything you discussed adds up to a lot of dead money at the end of the contract. Thank goodness Gayle Benson doesn't worry about the bottom line and she doesn't mind writing large checks to cover our spending sprees. Also, we have to remember that every year we roll money forward we are counting on the cap increase and have money to spend now.

It's basically spending next years raise and bonus on the credit card now. On the down side, it bit us in the butt in 2019 when covid hit and we lost some valuable players in free agency we couldn't afford to keep.

Loomis has talked about getting the salary cap under control and I believe him. But it won't happen overnight. The Saints operate on a long term plan and the change will take a few years. So, have some patience. You'll need it.

You claim you have a life outside of your hatred of Loomis, but I'll wager you are lying to yourself. You are all consumed by it. 99% of your posts here end up one way or another in attempting to demean the man. All of this unbridled venom based upon an accounting method with which you disagree.

Dude, it ain't going to change. It's the way the Saints, and many other teams, have chosen to do business. Even if your dearest dreams come true and Loomis gets hit by a bus his successor will continue that same method of their choice.

But, keep it up if it's all you have to live for.
