There would be lots of easy ways to do it. Remotely controlled electromagnet or gyroscope in the ball. Buried device in the tee box that creates a subtle imperceptible vibration as the ball is being hit. Swapped clubs with a weight imbalance.

You can have a lot of conspiracies about the NFL, but golf literally just got taken over by a foreign government in a forced merger. The champions wear weird green jackets like some secret society. They tour a series of exclusive private clubs owned by reclusive ivy league billionaires. Every player is a walking endorsement covered in branded gear with big logos and brand names everywhere. Each player is allowed to use their own ball while in the NFL a few psi in cold weather leads to fines. They never touch the ball with their bare hands only equipment they also provide which creates a lot more opportunity to rig events than the NFL where its body to body and hand to ball pure skill. And besides gambling, every golf match is played for a giant prize so there is even more incentive to rig matches. And while many NFL games are closely matched and there is not much money to make fixing matches for gambling, every golf event has 100-1 and 1000-1 underdogs.

I am just observing that a conspiracy to rig golf seems more likely.

Remember that there is very little history of major professional team sports being rigged. What has been rigged a lot in history? Quiz shows. Fancy individual sports like the Tour De France where many repeat champions doped. Chess is awash in cheating scandals. Figure skating where the olympics was influenced by an assault. So I think cheating and rigging are more likely in golf than football, its these fancy yale skull and bones types who are more likely to rig stuff, and they like golf.
