Re: NFC South Quarterbacks
I'll take Carr over Mayfield especially with the Kubiak offensive scheme. And there's no guarantees with Cousins coming off that torn Achilles.

Re: NFC South Quarterbacks
I admire your optimism on Carr but we have seen his game for too many years now and he has reached his peak and has nowhere to go but down from here. However I do have full faith in Kubiak. I was a big fan of his dad’s system so hopefully he can make it work. Which leads to my next question:
If Nix is available at 14 do the Saints take him? |

That plus I'm not entirely confident in our current coaching to bring a rookie in and groom him properly to be a starter. |

Re: NFC South Quarterbacks
I think the Falcons found their new Matt Ryan. I believe he will most likely improve their team and is better than Carr but won't deliver them a ring. If this pushes the Saints from 8-9 wins to 6-7 wins maybe that gets us closer to the changes that need to happen from the top.
The worst case scenario for us with the Falcons was if they stood pat in the draft and a player like Maye or Daniels fell to them due to unexpected draft developments or they took a shot and struck gold on McCarthy, and somehow ended up finding a young franchise QB cheap for years. This rules out the Falcons best case scenario. However I think it makes them more competitive than mortgaging the future to trade up which rarely works, or going with a recycled lesser QB in Wilson, Fields, Jones, etc. If the Falcons had found the next Mahomes or Rodgers or Allen that would be very bad for us. I am ok with them finding the next aging Matt Ryan or Kurt Warner or Eli Manning type, especially since they have a mediocre coach. It's not the end of the world to me if the Falcons make the playoffs and go lose to the 49ers, Eagles, Lions, etc there. I am not super afraid of Mayfield or Cousins, but I wouldn't be super afraid of Carr either, and of the 3 I think Cousins is the best QB and Tampa has the best coach, and none are great. I think Sean Payton with Jameis Winston could win this division. |
