Nothing personal. Just my opinion. And undoubtedly others, as well, from what I have come to understand. |

Re: Chase Young to undergo neck procedure
Just a wild guess, but the procedure could be something along the lines of the following:
Cervical foraminotomy is a surgical procedure done to relieve the symptoms of a pinched nerve by enlarging the neural foramen, and it can be performed in a minimally invasive way. The neural foramen is an opening where nerve roots exit the spine and travel throughout the body. The timeline for recovery sounds pretty much in line with what we're hearing. It says several weeks to return to normal activity for the average patient. I'd imagine getting back in playing shape for an athlete might be a bit longer so the 3-4 months that I read for Young seems reasonable. The stinger that he reportedly suffered could have been a pinched nerve instead. |

Again, this is why I am skeptical of the narrative that Cam's decline is based on injury and we can expect him to bounce back this year. Usually when players have a major decline one year at that age they continue to decline the next year, and usually when they have a minor injury at that age they have a minor or worse injury the next year, but if Cam held steady but stayed injury free, we would expect 3.5 sacks. Cam having surgery to correct an injury that he was already struggling on pace for 3.5 sacks before, and the Saints making their biggest free agent move on a risky player to fill in for Cam, those are both bad news for Cam's status.
