Re: Saints Almost Traded Up to Draft Penix
I can't wait to see how he's graded on the Saints big board. He could be a good late round investment for our new Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. His reviews are mostly positive when talking about his skill set when he was five star recruit in college.
Apparently, his college tape looks up and down and he needs time with coaches tutoring him 24/. I haven't seen film on him yet. I hear on the boards that he's a head case but I don't have anything to support that premise. He's a Saint now and I am excited about a Rattler/Haener QB competition at training camp this year. Rattler was benched and transferred when he lost his starting position to this years number one pick Caleb Williams. One of the things that did give me pause is that he was suspended from high school for thirty days for undisclosed reasons and no one knows why. He's probably great value in the fifth round though. |

Re: Saints Almost Traded Up to Draft Penix
DA doesn’t do the drafting. Yes, he has some input but no where near as much as Jeff Ireland and Loomis, of course. Allen doesn’t have near the trust of the Saints management as did Payton. I have heard and read that from several sources. Honestly, I wouldn’t doubt Kubiak has as much or more say so on offensive players than Allen now. |

I love the Fuaga pick. I'm very happy with it. That being said, Penix is going to be good, it's just I think Carr can be very good too. We haven't seen it yet, but we will.

Williams and Daniels were legit first rounders. Nix is either going to light it up with Payton or they're both going to be unemployed in two years. I personally think they will do well together. The rest are backups. The Falcons pick, and I've tried, just makes absolutely no sense.

Re: Saints Almost Traded Up to Draft Penix
You have to factor into the Penix pick, its Atlanta and they can “screw the pooch” on everything kinda like “28-3”. 🤭

Re: Saints Almost Traded Up to Draft Penix
I’ve been watching his film all morning. South Carolina must have had Pete Carmichael, Jr. as their OC. This playcalling is atrocious. Idk how many times I’ve seen three men on routes against six and seven men in coverage. Not to mention their getting back their to Rattler with a three and four man rush. Everything about his mechanics screams NFL QB. There’s a reason why his numbers with Oklahoma under Lincoln Riley were so much better. If they stayed together he’d probably be a top 5 pick due to production and the media. Based on his South Carolina tape, he reminds me of Baker Mayfield, Russel Wilson, and Gardner Minshew.

Re: Saints Almost Traded Up to Draft Penix
Penix has torn his ACL on the same knee twice and had season ending shoulder injuries to the same shoulder twice, both on his right side, which is where he will tend to take direct hits being a left handed qb with his left shoulder back to pass. If RG3 and Alex Analzone had a baby, that baby would be Micro Penis Jr. It probably doesn't matter how talented Penix is, the most likely outcome of his career if he ever plays is injury.
It is mind blowing to my that the Falcons have invested two consecutive first round picks in positions where they already had substantial value invested in a starter they still controlled for many years while ignoring other need positions. Maybe their lousy GM is just obsessed with players whose names sounds like penis, blowjob, arm pit, or a common name for strippers (London). I believe the obsession with how masterfully Green Bay transitioned from Favre to Rodgers to Love is a false premise. The entire thing earned them one ring, and they could have easily also won a ring if they gave Favre or Rodgers more help at other positions. They have a several 13 win teams that came up just short after making those picks. The other result for Green Bay has been and acrimonious relationship with both Favre and Rodgers, with tensions from start to end, as Favre resented drafting Rodgers, Rodgers resented sitting behind Favre, Rodgers resented drafting Love, Love resenting sitting behind Rodgers, and both Favre and Rodgers don't have great relationships with the Packers. All to win one ring over an 18 year period in which they might just as easily have won one or more rings with a different strategy anyway. The Green Bay comparison should also be weighed against cautionary tales. Kurt Warner was coming off a good season and just signed a new contract when the Arizona Cardinals passed on Haloti Ngata to draft Matt Leinart. Warner was supposed to be the present and Leinart the future. Leinart primarily ended up serving as Kurt Warners backup for 4 seasons and never became a regular starter. Two years later the Cardinals lost the Super Bowl by 4 points. https://www.draftsharks.com/fantasy/...penix-jr/34983 |
