I don't get the negativity. Our major problem last year was the offense, including the line, under one Pete Carmichael. He is now history, along with his entire coaching staff. I can't see our offense NOT being more efficient this year. We added one of the very highest rated offensive linemen in the draft.

Any defensive struggles could be aligned with the anemic offensive playcalling over most of the season. Frequent three and outs can weigh a heavy toll on a defense. But, we all saw how much better the team as a whole played after Carmichael got his head out of his ass down the stretch. I expect more of the same at minimum and more likely, much more production offensively.

The Saints were good enough to win nine games last year and have definitely improved. Looking at the schedule I do not see a single game that we have no shot at winning. No doubt we'll lose somewhere here or there. But I choose to expect to win each individual game and will not accept a loss unless it is final.

20-0 Baby!!

There may be too much negativity Guido, but you certainly must understand it. As far as the OL goes, we lost Hurtz and Ram is iffy. Yes we drafted a replacement but we drafted a replacement in Penning last year and it didn’t work out. Sure it could work out but you have to admit it’s a concern.

Pash rush. Where is that gonna come from? Sure, Young COULD work out, but Jordan is older. We are hoping guys that have not really stepped up before step up now. Same was at LB. Strength of D will be backfield.

I'm not concerned with Jordan. He played almost the entire season on a bum ankle. From my understanding that is now behind him. I expect a big bounce back year. As for losing Hurst, no biggie at all. He was "just a guy" all along.

But, no, I do not understand the negativity. I accept that it's going to exist because it seems it's just the way some people look at things. I never could see things that way. Just think, if players had that attitude they would be destined to lose. I was a pretty good golfer in my younger days and one thing I never thought about when addressing the ball was what could go wrong. I always visualized a successful shot. I would suspect the players have that same mindset, thank God.

I can guarantee you that the Saints record at the end of the season will be closer to 8-9 than 20-0.

If it is, it is. It does me no good to expect anything other than wins each and every week. Winning a gold star for guessing a record means nothing to me. It's pretty meaningless, in fact.

I hope that the Monday night game in Kansas City isn't a train wreck. If the Saints defense can limit the scoring to FG's by the Chiefs based kicker then they have a chance.

Re: 2024 Saints Schedule Release

2023 was a bigger disaster than many think...

Facts

Saints 2023 schedule was ranked the second easiest at .427

Let's look at Dennis Allen's "first winning season".

Saints went 9-8 thanks to wins against QBs Gardner Minshew, Tyson Bagent amd Tommy Devito.

Saints won 2 games thanks to wins against the worst team in football the Carolina Panthers who only won 2 games and by a whopping total of 4 points.

Vegas currently shows Saints are a favorite to go UNDER 7.5 (+100).

On to 2024.

The soft reset. With ageing players and an eye to the future, Saints have begun to wind down from their "win now" approach. Not saying it's right or wrong but it'll impact the roster.

2 of the 5 starting offensive lineman are in place. All others are unknows. Yes, Fuaga is likely to be a day one impact starter (maybe for the next 10 years) but behind him is more uncertainty. TBD on LT/RT, and LG.

Entirely new offensive system and staff. It'll take time to gel.

We're counting on big performances from old players. Cam Jordan. 35. Demario. 35. Mathieu. 33. Taysom. 34.

Will Chase Young pan out?

So many questions....

It's been said Saints have the second easiest schedule again this season. But they're factoring in playing 2 win Carolina and 7 win Atlanta twice.

Just look at the schedule and you'll find:

First 1/3rd of the schedule is brutal.

Second 1/3rd of the schedule they play 3 games in 14 days.

If they survive that gauntlet the final leg of the season follows a bye week and we COULD be in a decent spot for a playoff game.

I'm not being negative, I'm being realistic.

This will feel real good when we win the NFC South and start our playoff run.
