Re: 2024 Saints Schedule Release

2023 was a bigger disaster than many think...

Facts

Saints 2023 schedule was ranked the second easiest at .427

Let's look at Dennis Allen's "first winning season".

Saints went 9-8 thanks to wins against QBs Gardner Minshew, Tyson Bagent amd Tommy Devito.

Saints won 2 games thanks to wins against the worst team in football the Carolina Panthers who only won 2 games and by a whopping total of 4 points.

Vegas currently shows Saints are a favorite to go UNDER 7.5 (+100).

On to 2024.

The soft reset. With ageing players and an eye to the future, Saints have begun to wind down from their "win now" approach. Not saying it's right or wrong but it'll impact the roster.

2 of the 5 starting offensive lineman are in place. All others are unknows. Yes, Fuaga is likely to be a day one impact starter (maybe for the next 10 years) but behind him is more uncertainty. TBD on LT/RT, and LG.

Entirely new offensive system and staff. It'll take time to gel.

We're counting on big performances from old players. Cam Jordan. 35. Demario. 35. Mathieu. 33. Taysom. 34.

Will Chase Young pan out?

So many questions....

It's been said Saints have the second easiest schedule again this season. But they're factoring in playing 2 win Carolina and 7 win Atlanta twice.

Just look at the schedule and you'll find:

First 1/3rd of the schedule is brutal.

Second 1/3rd of the schedule they play 3 games in 14 days.

If they survive that gauntlet the final leg of the season follows a bye week and we COULD be in a decent spot for a playoff game.

I'm not being negative, I'm being realistic.

This will feel real good when we win the NFC South and start our playoff run.

You're entitled to your opinion but it's hard to take a view like yours seriously when it's continually sunshine and rainbows. I could understand it coming from a 5 year old.

It's no less serious than one that includes continuously expecting the worst. But, personally, I really don't care in the least what anyone thinks of my opinion. The way I look at it is if I'm forced to see others constantly posting doom and gloom I shouldn't feel bad about my spreading sunshine and rainbows, instead.

I, like many others, came to this site for information, not so much for the "venting" (aka *****ing and moaning). Those few of us left (thanks, Smash!) do our best to share whatever information we can gather for those without the time or patience.

Re: 2024 Saints Schedule Release

Lord knows I’ve had my issues with Guido. Along with his undefeated season predictions every year, his questioning of why others don’t share his black and gold colored glasses gets old.

That being said, IMO the constant negativity directed at those that try to put a positive spin on things is just as off putting. There are PLENTY of reasons to criticize the organization. But there are plenty of reasons to appreciate the organization as well.

The team has won at least 7 games for the past 18 seasons. That keeps you in the hunt. Again, it’s not what we strive for, but plenty of teams do a hell of a lot worse. Those that point that out are accused of eating a **** sandwich. That’s just as irritating as Guido saying everything the team does is perfect.

Again, JMO.

Both takes are an annoying footnote to an otherwise joyful experience at B&G.com

Guido gets a lot more credit thanks to the copious amounts of information.

I'm not being negative, I'm being realistic.

Now, putting on my realistic but POSITIVE hat...

The influx of younger talent bodes well for the future.

After his first winning season, Dennis Allen may have figured some things out.

A entirely new offensive staff and approach. We've been clamoring for that for years. It's gotta be good for the team.

Our defense is still dominant.

Rattler. Saavy move. Could be the future.

NFC South still a weak division.

We have 6 draft picks in 2025.

Yay. Championship.
