As for Carr getting injured, he's only missed two games in his career due to injury. That's two out of 161 total games. He one of the most durable QB's in the NFL today. There's no reason to suspect the likelihood of his missing games anymore so than any other QB in the league. Far less likely, in fact.

Unless Rattler beats out Haener I just don't see anyway that the #3 will make it to the practice squad. Rattler has too much hype for someone with that much talent to slip through the cracks again.

Carr is tough but he's not super human like Cam Jordan who can play every game year after year. He could get injured. Especially behind what is a largely unknown and somewhat suspect O line. Rattler throws well on the run even though he's not a dual threat QB and Haener looks more like a finished product this year who is ready to step in at backup QB.

A team can protect up to four players every week that cannot be sniped from the practice squad, Rugs. There's zero chance of losing those designated players. That's why most teams have a QB on the practice squad, as well as two or three other valuable players not quite ready for prime time.

As for Carr, he's played virtually every game his whole career so far. Odds say he's likely to play them all again.

Will never forget him throwing the ball backwards over Wayne Gandy's head and Deuce getting destroyed by the Chargers defense.

They have to make it to the practice squad though.

I believe they are protected in the move to the practice squad, as well. In other words, they don't go through waivers.

I was there. Brooks made nice throws but St. Louis' 5 turnovers had a lot to do with that win.

Hmmm......I thought when you cut a player on cut down day they had to go through waivers. Which, is why it's such a difficult decision on who will and who won't clear waivers before we can add them to the practice squad. Thanks for clarifying.

Okay, looking into it further and they may not be protected on the initial move, but it seems teams are intent on just getting their own on the initial moves. In other words, once waivers start you can claim your own player first and then you move to the bottom of the waiver order. If you claim players waived by another team early you are likely to lose your top player or two or three you want to retain. Apparently the first few claims by most every team are their own released players.

But, you may be right in Rattler being wanted. In that case we may keep three QB's on the 53. Then again, Haener could be waived and picked up first and moved to the practice squad. But I still expect Haener to start out as the primary backup.
