Kamara is under contract this year. He is under contract next year. He is a 30yo type RB in decline with a big disciplinary infraction who would never get his present salary on the open market. In his position, asking for guarantees is asking for 'a raise' because he already is being paid more money and more guarantees than he would get on the open market.![]()
The Saints have an offer on the table. Kamara has not accepted it. That should tell you what he is asking for is effectively a raise, even if it uses the $25 million 2025 'bs year' on his salary to count as not a raise because maybe he is willing to play for $15 million a year if we guarantee him 3 more years. In reality that would be a raise over anything we ever intended to pay him. Cam Jordan is a great athlete but his agent is better, and that agent hung us out to dry last year. Same bs song and dance about wanting to retire a Saints, with the end results that we are paying $14 million for 2 sacks. Cam could have been a Saints for pay based on his performance, which would be like maybe $4 million, more in line with guys like Saunders and Shepherd who his skills and abilities are closer to at this stage of his career. The fact is that football is a business. If the players dont want it to be a business they are welcome to sign for minimum salary. But it needs to be a business for the team. And the fact is that when an aging declining hometown favorite talks about wanting to retire in New Orleans instead of Africa but is holding out for more cash than the team can offer, its often more a case of his agent wanting to retire in the Maldives rather than Biloxi, because thats where all the demands come in. |

What I have heard from other sources, including Kamara himself, is that talks were ongoing and these were AFTER the supposed "offer was on the table". As we all know any negotiation involves a back and forth with offers and counter offers. That's what makes it a negotiation. There have probably been a number of "offers on the table" in recent weeks. That's just Kamara's agent, Brad Cicala, doing his job.
