We are a league leading $81.5 million over the 2025 salary cap and will need to restructure most of our contracts to get under the salary cap and avoid the dead cap hits associated with cuts that would keep us over the cap. Thats the problem. Its a long processing to turn over this roster. Fortunately we did not dig ourselves in deep quite as bad as past years.

We have to get wins in our Division, then Conference first...........

Ultimately there may be different versions of the Shannahan offense depending on whether the offensive line and the threat of a run can give the receivers time to spread out the field. There could be the mauler SF version that our personnel is a very poor fit to run and the explosive Miami version that our personnel can be more suited to if the oline holds up. But each team has to play the others version periodically to keep the defense honest.

The problem I see for us is that our oline can only give the QB time to throw if they are 100% healthy and the physical running game is working. But even that leads to severe punishment of Hill, Kamara, and the oline when they have to maul on a few plays to keep the defense honest. And the second they slow down we have to implement the SF offense not the Miami offense to get rid of the ball quick and help the oline. And once we implement the SF offense we get mediocre results and tons of injuries because we dont have the personnel.

Our offense is like a vintage european sports car in a cross country trail endurance race across the outback. It started fast, because it is, then it couldn't take the sustained punishment, because it isnt built to. That sports car will come out of the gate fastest, but it won't be sustainable.
