Looks like Derek Carr has passed up both Johnny Unitas and Joe Montana on the all-time passing list.

Re: Week Twelve: Saints Bye Week News and Discussion

I have to say, now that we have the PAUSE of the Bye Week, I'm conflicted on this team.

As a long time devoted fan, I'm more than a little giddy at banging out two wins after a seven week slide into misery. HOWEVER, I fear we will not see ANY front office changes if somehow we come close to .500 to end this season.

Once again, the Saints are faced with more questions than answers going forward:
Salary Cap Kick the Can
Aging Stars at the Core of our Defense
Middling Draft Options
Coaching Changes
Questionable Talent Evaluation
Perennial Soft Tissue Injuries at Alarming Rates

Any thoughts? Where do we start?

I honestly don't think we see any front office changes involving Loomis regardless of how many games we win or lose.

As for soft tissue injuries, looking across the league we're pretty much on par with most other teams in that regard. We have had it hit some key positions, but so have other teams. Others have dodged the bullet. Is it limited training due to collectively bargained reductions? Equipment? Playing and practice surfaces? I have also heard the increasing speed and size of the average player being a factor. Poor technique due to limitations of instruction at every level (high school, college, and pro) has also been mentioned.

I hate the familiar feeling of hoping that the Saints win all of the rest of the remaining games in a season while wishing certain teams lose their remaining games so that the Saints barely make it into the post season.

A great way to deal with soft tissue injuries is to trade back in the draft, get two picks for one, and if the first player gets a soft tissue injury, you have a young backup waiting in the wings who was talented enough to be drafted. I know this goes against everything Mickey Loomis believes, its the proverbial mocktail, but he needs to start questioning his beliefs when the owner is having to overrule him and fire the coach.
