this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Just a thought, what would happen to the website if they do move and we get the "Cleveland plan". Would it follow the team, or would i remain and become a San Antonio bashing forum?...

RE: what would happen to the website?
Stay and become a San Antonio Looters bashing forum ......
With its own bashing Bensons head smiley .... If the powers that be would just make the smileys already ...... Maybe we could have our own San Antonio looters site , you know , kind of one of those interim we get to bash the San Antonians for being the kind of low class scum that would spend money on tickets for a team that left it's faithful in their darkest hour . So much for the gotta have faith campaign ..... |

RE: what would happen to the website?
Unlike the owner of our football team, I will say that I am 100% committed to staying in Louisiana and will return to New Orleans next spring after the launch of Xbox 360 to help rebuild our city.
If the Saints are sold to San Antonio and they remain the Saints, I will not support their fans so I would probably sell to the highest bidder. In that case we would move to another site about something else, either politics or sports, maybe we could cover the Brother Martin Crusaders. If we got the "Cleveland plan" I would stay 100% committed to offer news and info about the new team to be chartered in New Orleans. I would be patient whether it took 2 years or 10 years. Also, I have gotten so many requests from writers who want to give restaurant reviews, upcoming event calendars, and what's going on in New Orleans in general- which by the way is always way more then most cities, especially San Antonio. Maybe we could make a site dedicated to the rebuilding of New Orleans. I'm a firm believer that these colors and this logo represents New Orleans and should remain. We redesigned this site with all the bling bling and features we could pack in to make something different, informative and mostly, to honor our favorite team and pay tribute to our city. If we lost the colors and our logo, I, like many others, will be completely demoralized about that. No matter what, if we lose them, we will be here serving somewhere in whatever purpose we choose. I would let that be up to you. All of us do this for you, our readers, our members, our mouse clickers, and we do whatever possible to keep our website as high quality as possible, and free. |

RE: what would happen to the website?
I remember watching the Saints in the old Sugar Bowl Stadium.
I remember feeding the ducks in City Park with my children. I remember eating poor boys at the Avenue Sandwich Shop. I remember people leaving New Orleans in the late 70's for jobs in Tennessee and Ohio. I remember catching Speckled Trout in the salt water marsh. I remember eating boiled crabs at Fitzgeralds on the Lake. I remember catching crabs on the seawall. I remember the concept of neighborhoods and friends. There are those who value these things and those who don't. The concept of "home" means something to some and nothing to others. I haven't lived in New Orleans for over 30 years, but I don't live very far away from my ancestral "home". It is almost impossible for one who has this concept of "home" to understand or communicate with someone who doesn't. Tom Benson has made a fortune off of the people of New Orleans. To think that the people he made his fortune off of would enter into his decision to make more money is flawed thinking. Tom Benson doesn't remember the smell of a rubber boat after it is pulled out of the Gumbo Mud in the Marsh, he doesn't remember a sunrise on the salt water marsh, or the sound of geese honking as they fly over pass-a-loutre. He doesn't remember the feeling of anticipation at the upcoming football season as long time fans wait in hope of a winning season for "their" team. He doesn't remember the talk on Monday mornings at the Chemical Plants and Refineries if the Saints won a game. Tom Benson doesn't remember any of this and above all he really doesn't care, and thats why we are all so pissed. |

RE: what would happen to the website?
Hey guys I remember when my family moved to Louisiana in the late 70's. Of course, I was pulling for the cowboys because I lived in Arkansas at the time before we moved to Louisiana. But when we got here and the Saints went 8-8 I was going alright way to go team because everybody was hoping for a winning season. I asked why haven't you guys had a winning season before. ah, no!!!! But it was cool because everybody was so excited about the team. Then it happened and the Aints came out the next year when they went 1-15 and you wanna know something?? I remember the people who were not from Louisiana put the bags and their heads not the Louisianans. Just remember New Orleans!!

Maybe if the Saints knew that it was their last season as the New Orleans Saints, they would play better. Who knows, maybe they will start kickin azz when they come to Tiger Stadium and see all the fans again.
