RB is the easiest (if not one of the easiest) position in football to find a suitable starting-caliber player. Drafting Jeanty that high would set the Saints back even further.

Aside from all of that, Jeanty has a lot of mileage on him (as already pointed out), and he also doesn't seem to do much for you in the passing game.

Hard PASS.
You pair him with AK and limit his carries. Line depth in this draft is insane. You can find starting caliber tackle and guards in the 3/4. Quality d line all the way out in the 6th. You don’t pass up in a generational talent because you think he carried too much. 15 years ago 300 carries was typical.

I would bet he's already assembled a lot of his staff. Seeing many Saints assistants taking gigs elsewhere . Fresh eyes will be a breath of fresh air for the Saints.

Yeah. Been hearing his definitely been working on staff. As for those "current" Saints assistants, their days were numbered as soon as the turnover at the top took place.

No you absolutely don’t use the #9 pick on part time player to split downs with the most expensive skill position player on your offense. That is Terry Fontenot Falcons loser logic like when they drafted Blowjob Robinson when they already had a 1000 yard back or drafted Penixs after signing Cousins. Last year our top pick played almost every down and thats what we want a full time star. Star running backs are available in middle rounds of the draft and cheap in free agency or trade. Every draft is deep at RB. If this draft is deep at oline we should draft oline in the first and middle rounds so we have depth at oline for once. Jeanty may be a generational talent in FCS division II but we have no idea if he would have started in the SEC and even if he did we have seen this movie before with Ricky Williams, Reggie Bush, and Mark Ingram, 1st round RB is never the best pick. Let the Falcons draft him to pair with BJ and limit their carries.

Absolutely agree. Too many holes on the either side of the line to draft depth at another position.

When you need everything, you can draft anything. BPA in the first 3 rounds. Just no trading up and for Pete's sake no more reaching for contrarian RAS projects.

Yep. Between 1999-2011 the Saints spent 6 first round picks (they traded up for williams and ingram) in 13 years to draft four running backs: williams, mcallister, bush, and ingram. During this same period the Patriots spent only one first round pick on RB. In 2009 when the Saints won the Super Bowl their leading rushers were Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell. Arguably the Saints could have been the Patiots, and Brees could have been Brady, if the Saints had Damien Woody, Richard Seymour, Nate Solder, and Chandler Jones instead of those 4 Running Backs. Those were the Patriots picks in 1999, 2001, 2011, and 2012 when the Saints used their 1st round picks to draft or trade up for running backs and the Patriots took those players at similar cost. Bith teams draft Rb in 2006 and both were meh. In 2000 the Saints 1st round pick was traded as part of the Ricky Williams deal, the Patriots as part of the Bill Belichick deal, so perhaps we could have had Belichick too instead of Haslett, and perhaps Belichick would have drafted Brady

Valid points.

I do think Jeanty is a total stud, though.
