Bulger expected to miss 2 games with shoulder sprain
ESPN.com news services

Although no official announcement has been made, it appears Marc Bulger will miss two games after suffering a shoulder injury in the Rams' Monday night's loss to the Colts, ESPN's Chris Mortensen has confirmed.

Bulger is expected to be out until after St. Louis' bye week (Nov. 6), the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Wednesday, meaning he will miss Sunday's game against New Orleans and the Oct. 30 game against Jacksonville. He is likely to return for the Rams' Nov. 13 game in Seattle, Mortensen reported.

Jamie Martin will be the starter in Bulger's absence, with rookie Ryan Fitzpatrick the top reserve. It is possible the Rams could add a third quarterback as insurance until Bulger can return, but as of early Tuesday evening no decision was imminent, according to the Post-Dispatch.

Bulger was diagnosed with a sprain in his throwing shoulder, but X-rays and an MRI were negative for bone or structural damage.

What a few Rams fans are saying....

"Jamie Martin should be arrested for impersonating an NFL QB. The Rams front office should have drafted and trained a backup or signed a capable replacement ages ago. Hell, I can think of five QBs that are currently sitting on couches (speaking of Couch) that look like perennial pro bowlers next to Martin."

"The Rams will hold onto the football this week and run alot. If Martin starts completing passes to the bad guys, Fitz will light it up as someone the Saints didn't prepare for."

"After a promising start this season, the Rams' rush defense has dropped like an anchor. Three games into the season, the Rams were yielding 3.3 yards a carry and only 67.7 yards a game on the ground. But in the next three games - against the New York Giants, Seattle, and Indy - those numbers have swollen to 4.9 yards a carry and 158 yards a game."

"Claiborne and Coakley together haven't made as many tackles as a bouncer does at any club down at the Landing on even a Sunday night."

"The turnovers are killers, especially with our defense. It sucks, but the Rams simply have to be near perfect on offense, because the D can't stop anyone."

LOL... actually this is one where the Saints star the turn and start working on getting back to .500 to finish the season at .500 Although I like the rest of the schedule.

We "should"... like we should have won some other games. We are going to see a whole lot of Jackson and Faulk... I hope our defense is up to the task.

I'm with Papz on this one. It's gonna be Jackson/Faulk all game long. I don't know if the D can handle it. I have no idea what team is going to show up Sunday. I hope it's the team that showed up against the Falcons, but more disiplined. Here's to hoping.

--The Saints have won the last three meetings in St. Louis, including a 28-25 victory last season. In that game, the Saints' John Carney hit a game-tying field goal with three seconds remaining in regulation, and then won it on a 31-yard field goal in overtime.

--The Saints have allowed 173 points this season, which is their most since the 1973 squad which allowed 185 through the first six games.

--New Orleans has been outscored 85-19 in its last two road games, including 59-9 in the first halves of those contests.

--Saints' QB Aaron Brooks has increased his passing yardage in each of his five career games vs. the Rams (190, 208, 254, 269, 316).

--New Orleans' WR Joe Horn has five touchdown receptions in his last four games vs. St. Louis, including at least one in each contest.

--The Rams look to avoid losing consecutive home games for the first time since 2002.

--St. Louis has committed at least one turnover in 33 consecutive home games (regular season only). The Rams have a -10 turnover differential during their current three-game losing streak.

--Rams' QB Marc Bulger suffered a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder last week, and may miss a couple of games.

--Jamie Martin will start for the first time since 12/8/02, and is 0-3 as a starter in his career.

--St. Louis RB Stephen Jackson has five touchdowns in his last five games, after scoring just four in the first 15 games of his career.

Ok, last time I checked, the Saints have a 4-2 record over the Rams since 2000........and Aaron Brooks is 3-0 in St. Louis. If anything, Rams fans should be sweating this game...........not tossing around words like "Aints", and saying the Rams will win if Bulger and Bruce play.
