Saints report: Starting center suffers knee injury
Web Posted: 10/21/2005 12:00 AM CDT San Antonio Express-News The New Orleans Saints' offensive line, which has been in disarray for much of the season with all sorts of bumps and bruises, lost another healthy member Thursday when starting center LeCharles Bentley missed part of practice with a knee injury. Bentley's injury leaves left tackle Wayne Gandy as the team's only healthy starting offensive lineman. Right tackle Jammal Brown is expected to miss his second consecutive game Sunday with a sprained ankle, right guard Jermane Mayberry of Floresville is battling back from a sprained shoulder, and left guard Kendyl Jacox is dealing with a nagging knee problem. In addition, backup guard Montrae Holland also has a sore knee. Holland, Jacox and Mayberry practiced Thursday, and coach Jim Haslett said he expects all three to play Sunday at St. Louis. If Bentley can't play, Jacox would be the likely starter at center, with Holland filling in at Jacox's guard spot. Other Saints who missed part or all of Thursday's practice were wide receiver Joe Horn (hamstring), safety Dwight Smith (knee) and linebacker James Allen (knee), who Haslett said could go on injured reserve soon Story continues...Haslett Fine....Alamodome... http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/f....1cdcb561.html 8) |
