At the time I feared Carr could extract a raise or additional guarantees from the Saints in return for signing on the dotted line to a restructure if the Saints got so cap broke or unwilling to rebuild that they had to restructure him no matter the cost. Everyone assumes that if Carr was upset the Saints could restructure without his signature that means he wanted to leave the team, but its equally possible he wanted a raise to $50-60mil/yr and a guaranteed money in 2027.

More than likely the latter is true. Gotta swallow the tough paper until we don't have to. It's a shame, really. It's not as if there weren't opportunities to move on from him this year. |
