2025 Saints Coaches
HC Kellen Moore
Moore, a 13-year NFL veteran, played quarterback for six seasons (2012-17) and entered the coaching ranks in 2018, serving as an offensive coordinator for the past six campaigns. Moore comes to New Orleans after serving as offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024. Associate HC/RB coach Joel Thomas Joel Thomas, a 25-year coaching veteran, returns to New Orleans to tutor the club's running backs in 2025 after previously spending nine years with the Black and Gold (2015-23). After spending the 2024 season coaching the New York Giants running backs, the Port Angeles, Wash. native returns to New Orleans with the additional title of associate head coach. OC Doug Nussmeier Doug Nussmeier is in his first season as the Saints' offensive coordinator and tenth season as a coach in the National Football League. A 24-year coaching veteran, Nussmeier returns to New Orleans after originally being a fourth round pick (116th overall) of the Saints in the 1994 NFL Draft out of Idaho, for who he played four seasons. He joins the Saints after spending the 2024 season as quarterbacks coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. In 2024, Nussmeier was a key piece of the Eagles Super Bowl LIX Champion offensive coaching staff. With Philadelphia ranked eighth overall in the NFL in net yards per game (367.2) and seventh in points per game (27.2), Jalen Hurts flourished under Nussmeier's tutelage, posting a career-high 103.7 passer rating, fifth in the league. Hurts also ranked among the top eight in the league in yards per attempt (fourth, 8.0), completion percentage (eighth, career-high 68.7) and total touchdowns (eighth, 32). In addition, Hurts tied for the fifth-most rushing touchdowns (14) in the league (first among quarterbacks). DC Brandon Staley Brandon Staley is in his first season as the Saints' defensive coordinator. A 19-year coaching veteran, including the last eight in the NFL with three as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, this will be Staley's second stint as a defensive coordinator after leading the Los Angeles Rams finish first in the NFL in total defense in 2020. Re: 2025 Saints Coaches
This is the biggest coaching staff methinks the Saints have ever had. It's a nice blend of experience and youth. A few former HCs who couldn't cut it but are good assistants.
12 on offense, 10 on defense and 2 on special teams. So far the interviews reveal an extremely smart staff, extremely organized, great attention to detail. This first draft showed us all so far a class of all capable extremely smart and talented productive players. Credit has to go to this staff for what may turn out to be a great one. ![]() | |

Re: 2025 Saints Coaches
With Kellen Moore himself, Tolzien and Nussmeier on our staff, maybe we don't need a veteran QB on the roster behind Shough/Rattler. The staff has plenty of them to fill that need of hands-on mentoring.
