A-Mac
Ok, it is rare for me to say this kind of thing, but it is time to let A-Mac play.
Brooks is horrid. No matter how you slice it up. At 2-5, no matter the fact that we should have won two of those games we lost (putting us at 4-3 in my mind), it is time to see if any of the new kids can do anything. I like that Henderson is getting some reps, and Hilton, but let's see if the QB of the future has anything to offer - even at 1-1 TD to INT, he'd be better than our current shlep. |

Kool, I'm loathe to disagree with you on this point, but I shall anyway.
I'm not sure that it's a good idea to start McPherson. Mainly because with so many teams in need at QB, I think that AB still has trade value. (I know we disagree on this assessment, but it seems like a lot of teams are just a stat-padding QB from making a playoff push. Mainly teams where the window is closing or teams that have no passing game anyway) I think that by deciding not to deal him last off-season, the organization made a commitment to start him all 16 games. To sit him now is to kill any trade value he may have. (I personally think we can sucker some team like Detroit, KC or Arizona for a #1 and a conditional #2 in the following year for him). The other question in my mind now is: At 2-6, what are our odds of selecting in the top 5 in the next draft? I'm not so sold on McPherson's potential that I wouldn't be all to happy to draft Leinart and convert him into a WR. I think we're in agreement that AB is not worth what we're paying. Our sticking point is now what to do with AB in all his albatross-ness? .02 |

WHO is going to trade for AB? Name that team and you'll have an army of lawyers at your door attmpting to enjoin your freedom to slander their good name and judgemnt. Or they'll stick your head up your anal orifice where it belongs.
By the way, who was the last QB selected to the Pro Bowl with 3 games of a QB rating less than 51.0??? Maybe AB will be the first!!! No, but seriously, put Bouman in. If he's got any kind of game, he'd better show it or it's time to enroll in a graduate program at UNO. Let AMac hold the clipboard and do some 4th quarter mop up duty. |

RE: Re: A-Mac
Nicely done, as always BMG. However, I have to agree with Xan; Brooks doesn't have much (if any) trade value. Even if he did, it might go up with a bit of - well we didn't see him play those last few games, maybe he would have got his head on straight.
Here is the main reason for a change (maybe even to Bouman - shudder): our offense is virtually unwatchable! I almost can't bring myself to watch the games!!! They touch the ball and it is the "how else can they screw it up" in me that keeps me watching. Two years ago, it was at least fun to watch the offense. 08, never fear, I'm not going to join the darkside, but I sure am going to agree with them on Brooks... maybe it is the first step... we shall see. Finally, BonB, thanks for noticing. I have a pretty strict view on playing a just drafted QB, unless he is at the top of the pile. However, given Brooks horrible performance, let's see what our new kid can do so that we can see if we need to draft another one. Brooks is playing just THAT badly that the consistent mediocrity of a newly drafted QB (statistically speaking) would be a step up. |

The organization was built to fail , only strength of the poster to see that and the resolve to not accept mediocrity will help them prevail ........ Feel the power of the Super Bowl ...... |
