During that time he has had numerous bad games and bonehead plays. However, throughout it all, he has remained the QB. At some point in time, people began getting weary of his inconsistent play and wanted to see a change at that position, even if it were just temporary. We have seen a couple of guys leave and be fairly successful at their new home, while we keep getting the same thing week after week. No other team would ever go this far out on a limb with a mediocre QB at best. The fact that there has been no change means that we will keep having this debate and nobody will ever know if they were right or wrong. To me, it is maddening. I mean, if he were to get replaced and the next guy stunk up the joint just as bad, don't you think that might calm things down for a while, or, on the other hand, if someone came in and we immediately started being more consistent, that too would end the debate for a while...but, as it is, the debate will go on and on, IMO.
