CBS Sports faceoff: Time to give up on Brooks?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I would have to say that we look to get very little if we have to trade Brooks and any team would be stupid to have him as a starting QB. He's had 5 years with no competition at QB ...

I would have to say that we look to get very little if we have to trade Brooks and any team would be stupid to have him as a starting QB. He's had 5 years with no competition at QB and still fumbles the ball without being hit or throws Interceptions in the Red Zone. It is freaking unbelieveable that anyone would defend him but I guess there will always be a BOB. I hope BOB switches teams when Brooks does to, that way he can defend him and gain a whole new fan base of enemies. I'M OUTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!

I know I haven't posted in a while, but I gotta jump in. I think the question should be not how bad is Brooks, but how good is his replacement. Even with a bad QB, it can get worse (look at Baltimore). With that said, I think it's time to give McPherson a chance under the guise of not wanting to risk hurting Brooks in a non-playoff year, then make a decision at the end of the season.

Just a reminder, last year I used to defend Brooks too, but even I've given up now.

I don't understand why people ever thought Brooks was a great talent in the first place... It's not like we got him from Green Bay where he was their starting QB so that he could take over our starting QB job. He was a backup then, he came to the Saints as a backup, and he should be a backup now. This guy never had starter potential, and that's why the only reason he even started was because of an injury to Jeff Blake. He had some luck in his first (half) season, and people think he's starter-quality. Well, he's not. It's definitely time to give up on him.

Good post Deuce....
Brooks is straight garbage and needs to go....I too was a big supporter of his,
BUT NO MORE!!!
Let him pass backwards somewhere else....let his new home go thru the monday morning abuse at the water cooler that we've suffered for the last couple of years....
Let's see how his new city takes it when he throws a int. to a D lineman and then sits on the bench and laughs..........to quote the amityville house:
GETTTTTTT OUTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!

..well, remember that Brooks was Mike McCarthy's project.. he convinced the Packers to get him, then convinced Mueller to get him.

... when Brooks gets cut next year, it would be very interesting to see if he lands in San Francisco, or see if McCarthy has finally given up on him. Of course, they have Alex Smith now, yet he's an unproven rookie. It'd be sad if McCarthy would stay with Dorsey rather than picking up his old project.

The big issue that Brooks is going to face going to another team is that he is going to have to earn his spot on the roster, rather than being the pet QB of the new regime, as he is in N.O.
