Let's say for the sake of arguing, you are the GM of the Saints, and you decide to stick with the 17th and 18th picks in the draft. Come draft time, the following players are still on the board. Who would you pick and why?

William Joseph and Boss Bailey. Both players have speed and both played a big part in their teams success. They come from big programs and still managed to be one of if not the big man on campus. And above all else, they are great players that would fit our defense.

Yeah, but do we really need another OLB? Isn\'t MLB our big problem area? I would probably go Joseph and Doss or Trufant. Fill the linebacker and at least one DB spot with someone who has some actual playing experience.

this is the kinda scenario we could very well be looking at......based on talk with one pick i\'d take mathis because many feel he is a diamond in the rough.....i would then take sullivan because he could very well be another starter............then i\'d take doss, william, marcus, boss, and ej with my remaining picks.........smitty

If I was presented with this scenario, I would take Bailey and Trufant, without hesitation.
Trufant is a shutdown corner, which we need. Enough said. Bailey grows on me more and more each day. He\'s got the tools to be a freak in this league, and these type of players don\'t come around too often. His drawbacks are how healthy he will stay, and that he misses some tackles. But hell, he\'s there for EVERY play, not on the field, but flying around the ball carrier. Even with the missed tackles, he still led Georgia in that stat. However, my thinking is that Trufant will be gone, there will be an early run on QB\'s, which will accelerate teams drafting at that position (which is good for us), which will result in Joseph getting pushed down to us, and we end up with Joseph and Bailey. |
The waiting drove me mad....
I don't want to hear from those that know... Everything has changed, absolutely nothing's changed Eddie is a....draftnik? |

I\'m 100% with Black and Blue on this one. I think value wise Trufant and Bailey are the 2 best values here. We fill need a one spot, depth at the other, and speed at both. They are also two of the better pure athletes in that list.
Bailey is a freak and I\'ll be kissing the TV if we name him. |

I\'ll take Rasheen Mathis & William Joseph
Rasheen Mathis can fill the spot the saint deseparately need (FS). The guy is a playmaker who can start right now!!! I have him as the fourth best corner(newman, trufant, and weathersby) in the draft and the best free safety. Mathis is a versatile prospect, shined as a cornerback, safety and as a punt returner. He has good physical skills, and instincts. Works well in the open field. Can read Quarterback\'s eyes. Get a good jump on the ball. William Joseph can erase the mistake the saints done (losing LaRoi Glover). This guy is can start right now and save us money by riding ourselves of Norman Hand. He is compared to Warren Sapp. Is disruptive against the run. Is a one gap penetrator with great initial quickness. Locates the ball and chase it down. Bottom line Joseph has rare size & athleticism. He typically beats blockers with initial quickness. |

Ya know, honestly, I\'m not that awed by Warren Sapp. Frankly, I think he\'s the second most talented DT on his team. If Booger could ever stay healthy, he very well could turn into a better DT that Sapp. Just my humble opinion, but I just don\'t think Sapp is all that incredible. He is the most vocal player on a very good defense, which means he gets more credit than he deserves a lot of the time. I mean, who has a bigger impact on their team? If I could take any player on that defense it would probably be in an order closer to Derrick Brooks, Simeon Rice, Shelton Quarles, John Lynch, then Sapp... although Ronde Barber and Brian Kelly are probably close behind. Maybe it\'s just because I don\'t particularly like the guy... who knows? In any case, when people compare DTs to Sapp I don\'t get overly excited. Nothing against you analysis Rod... I\'m just stating my opinion.

id like to see the saints take trufant and joseph, but i dont think trufant will be on the board when we are up, so then i would like to see them take mathis also, the guy can play 2 positions on D and is solid at both of them.... i was thinking about boss bailey but i feel the saints think they are set at OLB and should take B. James (LSU) in the 2nd round if he is still available....
