Interesting Snippets
From SI.com, I'll post both, as they are just paragraphs:
Highly placed Jets sources say they'd prefer not to draft Reggie Bush or Matt Leinart because it would mean investing too much money in one player when they have many holes to fill. Those sources, too, are not crazy about Leinart because he doesn't possess a strong arm and will command about $24 million. -- New York Post Which veteran QB might be playing for the Jets next season? The Chargers might get rid of Philip Rivers, but the Jets are not high on him. Though Washington's Patrick Ramsey, New Orleans' Aaron Brooks or Tampa Bay's Chris Simms might be available, the Jets might be looking at the answer Sunday at Giants Stadium in Oakland's Kerry Collins. -- New York Post |

Hadn't seen these yet, thanks. It's a sobering fact that we've likely shot ourselves in the foot (again) by not trading Brooks in the last off-season. I notice that the article mentions that Brooks "might be available" not that the Jets were interested.
Prior to this season, I truly believe some NFL personnel staffs might have been unfamiliar enough with AB's rookie-like mistakes, bad decisions, poor mechanics, and chronic inaccuracy during game play to possibly trade us a 3rd or 4th for him. I no longer have that hope. This year has really shown off Brooks problems. I suspect we'll be lucky to get a pick in any round for him. The real scary thing might be that we cannot find anyone who wants him at all. Seems pretty obvious to me that he's not starter material, but could make a decent backup for fill-in work. With his price-tag, I just don't see any team paying that much for a backup. |

Hey Frenzy, I agree with you as most probably do at this point, should've traded the sucker last year. If we were to pair him in a trade along with Deuce we might be able to come up with a high first rounder and I say trade Deuce because we seem to run alot better without him and I think the injury bug is just going to continue. Let's not make the same mistake with Deuce that we made with AB and wait a year later to realize we should have made the trade.

.. I don't know why I see Gino Torrettta when I see Matt Leinart.. maybe is the weak arm, lack of mobility, the superhuman team around him... I don't know ...

I'm sorry TR, but I think you are so wrong here it's unreal. Have you seen Leinart play a lot? I have. All the way back to the split national championship season. This dude is amazing. I hate USE for LSU having to share a national title with them, but I am not gonna use that to discredit Leinart. This dude is the real deal. He will be a great QB in this league. He is better than Carson Palmer. And actually last year, he lost his number one and two wideouts and still led the team to an undefeated season, so he has not always been surrounded by "a superhuman team." I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Leinart no way is better than Palmer. No sir!!! ... when I see Leinart, I see a weak arm with lots of time to throw.. in Carson circa USC, you could see the arm, the poise, and the athleticism... I don't see any of that in Leinart. Honestly, I would rather have Matt Jones playing QB, before Leinart.... ..but you know what they say about opinions... mine's right and your's wrong |
