Bowling Green quarterback Omar Jacobs will forgo his senior season and enter the 2006 NFL Draft. Jacobs leaves Bowling Green as the school's all-time leader in touchdown passes (71) and ranks third in career passing yards (6,938).

"It was a decision that was certainly not easy and a decision that I hope the people who have supported me throughout my career can understand and respect," said Jacobs.

Jacobs received a fourth-round grade from the NFL's draft advisory committee, and believes his athletic ability will be on display at the NFL scouting combine and will help his stock rise.

"Omar believes there is a need for quarterbacks in this draft," Jacobs' mother, Barbara Bean told ESPN's Joe Schad.

"We respect Omar's decision and we support him," Bowling Green head coach Gregg Brandon said. "Any coach would love to have an Omar Jacobs for another year, but we know his desire is to play professionally. We really appreciate his efforts in helping us re-establish a winning tradition at BGSU. He's a great kid who can realize a dream and he wants to devote all of his energies towards making that a reality."

Your team stinks

RE: in case you didn

I have watched this guy play a few times in the last couple of years. He is the real deal. On top of those great stats he is 6'4" 224. He was injured for a portion of this season or his stats would be even better. He threw for 4,000 yds and 41 TDs last year. WOW

Would be a steal in the second round. I'm definitely high on Jacobs.

I don't know about Jacobs being a second round steal. His throwing motion is almost as awkward as Vince's delivery. We'll have to see how he performs in workouts. He is mobile, but not nearly as mobile as Vince. He also hasn't played against top notch competition like the other elite QB's. I'll guess he gets drafted late 2nd to mid 3rd.

I agree with ya and that's why I guessed that we would take him with our second round pick. Check out my Mock Draft in the First and Gold column. I think he will still be there and I really think we need to take Hawk and trade down a few spots to pick up more selections. I still think we will trade AB for Collins and a 3rd round pick from Oakland. Jacobs and AMAC can fight it out for number 2 for a couple of years while Collins can at least provide some experience and stability.

Let the competition begin.
