Phillip Rivers is off the Market
Philip Rivers is officially off the market, and it was revealed too that the Chargers will at least make an effort to sign Drew Brees to a long-term contract. "There won't be any more talk about both of them being dangled," Chargers General Manager A.J. Smith said.

RE: Phillip Rivers is off the Market
I agree... you can't afford to dump either of them, you go with the QB that you are winning with and that is Brees. Rivers, hasn't shown much and still needs developing, you aren't going to get what you want so you keep him. This day in age you need depth anyways and QB is no exception, its in there best interest to keep them both and I have been saying this for a long while now.

RE: Phillip Rivers is off the Market
The salary cap is the only issue at this point. The Chargers can not afford to let one of them go, but they might not be able to afford to pay for two starting QB's. Rivers and Brees are not going to stay in San Diego because they like the weather. They will have to be paid a hefty amount to remani in S.D., especially if they both would rather be the starter.

RE: Phillip Rivers is off the Market
Salary cap isn't the issue with the Chargers... they are fully expecting to sign him. I can honestly tell you though that there is a number of fans here in San Diego that would like to see him go though because they fault him for not making the playoffs. So if the fans here aren't happy with him what makes you think that will improve. You're just getting another teams loser.
