I say no. It's not too often we get this high of a pick without turning in our entire draft picks. I say just pick one of the top three or trade down a couple for Hawk. Take advantage of the high pick while we can. While I think Carr would be better than Brooks he's not worth a #2 pick.

Um, you're not only getting Carr for the #2 pick. You're getting Carr, an early second and third this year, and a first and second next year, which will more than likely also be early. Carr doesn't work, hello Brady Quinn, but you have a buttload of picks to address needs with good players. Carr and a buttload of high picks is worth the #2 pick.

That assumes that those 2 #1s next year can get you up high enough to get Quinn. If not, you came away with multiple lower draft picks instead of a franchise QB. I do not see the trade as a no-brainer at all.

SO the Texans will go fromt he first pick to what, the 18th? I don't think so. It will still be a top 10 pick next year AND you will have an extra second. That's enough to move up, if it's even necessary. That's assuming our own pick won't be high again. Yup, it's a no brainer.

Just an Opinion. We get pick #2 we should keep it. Why even gamble on what the Texans will do next year? Sure they might get a high pick next year but that is not gauranteed. We have the opportunity now to grab Basically who we want in the draft now. I think the bigger question is who do we want.

saintswhodi 01-13-2006 04:17 PM

Leinart, but I was trying to come up with a scenario where I would feel comfortable trading the pick.

lynwood 01-13-2006 04:25 PM

What about trading down for a defensive need? Say enough to grab a really good LB?

i like carr, and i saw a fair share of houston games on my nfl ticket this year (dom davis in fantasy league if you are wondering why i was watching them). carr makes an occasional mistake I will go with that, but he is not awful. at least 3/4 of the time i saw carr sacked was on step 2 of a 3 step drop. that line is pretty bad. saintfan brings up the most interesting point of all, he would go from one bad o-line to another.
