Would you make this trade?

Say Houston wanted to go for all the marbles, and get the first AND second pick in the draft, and they offered us David Carr, plus their second and third round picks this year, plus their first next year for our pick at number two. Would you do it? I would, in a heart beat. Maybe we could throw in Brooks and get their second next year too. Just a thought.

Then Houston could get Young AND Bush. And we'd have Carr, and a buttload of high picks. Plus you gotta figure Houston's pick next yeal will be pretty high again. Just bored.

RE: Would you make this trade?

but then we be stuck with a worthless qb. one that can't read defenses, can't feel the rush coming, that can't figureout how to throw the ball away before taking a sack. we'd be stuck with a qb that couldn't find the outlet wr and throw him the ball. i guess in small print someone worse than brooks, that is exactly what this franchise needs. see the fans in houston that i listen to say carr is garbage, just can't feel the rush holds the ball too long which leads to a lot of the sacks he takes.

Hard to tell how he'd do with a half-decent O-Line. Of course we'd have to GET one first...

RE: Would you make this trade?

You know wodi, I heard this scenario on ESPN earlier today. Hell yes, I'd do it. Carr could be exceptional if he didn't play behind a line similar to the one Archie Manning played behind in the '70's. And all those picks: that would insure us some good LB's in the second round. If only it could happen.

i love to see people making excuses for stupidity by a qb, on the offensiveline.

I'd do it too ghandi, in a millisecond. Two HIGH second round picks this year and a high third? An almost guaranteed high first next year, plus our first, plus an almost guaranteed high second, with our second? WOW!!!!!

I'm shocked sw... you're willing to pass up on Leinart?! :P

I'm a big fan of Carr's, but I'm also a big Leinart guy myself. Both will have large contracts and I think Carr's end at the finish of next season. So what if he decides to bolt on us?

That trade does give us a nice chunk of high drafts picks... but no first this year? I'd be a little disappointed we wouldn't have the opportunity to draft a Leinart, Hawk, Williams, Greenway, Ngata, etc. So... I'd think about it, but I'll probably pass and take a Leinart or trade down into the top 10 to acquire more picks. I'm pretty sure someone would give us a nice offer say... switch first rounders and they kick in an extra second rounder next year or a 3rd this year and something else the year after. It all depends how bad some of these teams want a chance at one of the threesome... we might be able to rip someone off. 8)

if we gonna trade, why not drop down 7-10 picks, do some wheeling and dealing and get cutler and white in the first round? you say duece is gonna be alright and he might be, but i'm really impressed with white. he could be the next bus, bettis, for many yrs to come.....talk about bored..............let's let the new coach lite it up, whatever he may be smoking..........and change everything , for the good we hope...................
it's good to to sit where we are in the draft, and it sure would be a hella lot better to have someone on the team know what they're doing before and come draft time...........smitty

According to Chris Mortensen, Kubiak likes David Carr. Gary said "barring some big trade down, Reggie Bush will be their guy" regardless of what the fans want. I added that last part but it was a part of the comments.
