The last defense that was not in the top 10 in scoring defense to win the SuperBowl was... the 1983 Oakland Raiders. SFIAH |

why does everyone think the saints defense was so horrible? they finished with the 14th best defense in the nfl and that was with an offense that had the worst turnover ratio (-21) in the nfl that kept giving offenses the ball with a short field. i would say with a few small improvements, less turnovers from the offense and better coaching they could easily be a top 10 defense. i have posted this many times, but for some reason no one has been catching on.
so we have a defense that is atleast better than the nfl average and an offense with a lot of playmakers. what we need now is a qb to not lose the game for us and another outside lb and better coaching. we should be getting better coaching in the next week or so, a new qb with our 1st round pick and an outside linebacker with our 2nd round pick. we will not win the super bowl next year, but atleast we can make a run at the playoffs and finish better than 8-8. |

a top 3 defense is the whole reason i first became a saints fan back in 1990 and 1991. i am sure you would agree that an offense can also make a defense look much better if they don't turn the ball over all the time. i think we already have that defensive base. if we don't have a qb that can manage the game the best defense in the world won't get you anywhere.

Our defense was pretty good, ranked 14th, last season. Yet we led the league in turnovers and we were in the bottom 3 in scoring offense. This team needs offensive help. It won't matter how good our defense is if we can't score points and the other teams score defensive touchdowns every game. Most people on this board were crying that our defense would have one games for us this year if our offense wasn't so bad. We need offensive help, specifically at QB. Our defense needs help too, but it's not as important as getting a QB.
