Someone PLEASE GAWD..........
Sell me on Sean Payton!!!!!!!!! I don't know to much of the guy except Dallas hasn't had a 1,000 yard rusher since Emmit Smith(RIGHT?) He has been tutored by the big tuna, which worked out well for New England when they got a former big tuna underling. So let me hear some positive responces please, because now we are stuck with him.

RE: Someone PLEASE GAWD..........
Sell you on Sean Payton. There's really not a great deal right now to work with. If you want to compare his resume' to one of a well known head coach, then there's no comparison right now. However, he was the offensive coordinator for the NY Giants during their Super Bowl run. He also was up for the Oakland Raiders job in '04 and was offered the position, but he turned it down. As you know, he was QB coach/Assistant head coach for the Dallas Cowboys before he accepted our HC job. He was pretty much Bill Parcells' right hand man for the past few years and was highly regarded amongst his players. I think if he's allowed to do things his way, that he can make this a very exciting team to watch.

I just crused a few dallas sites and they are happy to be dumping his play calling. It makes me a bit worried that so many are happy to boot him out. I threaten to send benson their way if turns out true. They replied that tom is coming to texas one day any how and the choice of HC proves it. :bnb:

I personally think Sherman offered more, but Payton has been tutored by some of the best. Although I've seen countless Cowboys games, and I personally think his playcalling is boring, it seems to be at least moderately effective (at least its more effective than the 2005 Saints playcalling). Let's just see what this guy does before we go blowing any gaskets.

Well i like a vertical passing game and that looks like what we will get with Payton. I'll take that over throwing passes into the turf to Joe Horn on his back.

RE: Re: RE: Someone PLEASE GAWD..........
I think Benson might be looking for an Andy Reid clone for success like they did in Philly. If so, count on our boys drafting a QB in the first round if Payton is the man. (Reid was a QB coach and drafted McNabb instead of Ricky Williams, remember that?) We should only be so lucky to get QB that could develop into a legitimate stud with a new regime.
I am kind of curious whether the new coach will focus on a vertical West Coast style game even though he's coming from the Tuna's grind-the-ball system. Somehow, the day seems to be getting a little brighter. Now, if only Nagin would pour himself a nice hot cup of 'Shut the F... Up!' everything would be right with the world... |

My greatest fear with Payton is that he will think he can re-tool AB, sort of like a science project. I hold out hope that Payton will want to start anew with someone like Lienart, which is enticing given that we have the recievers that we do. Alot will depend now on who brings in as his staff, the clock is ticking.
