Agreed.. Cutler will turn out to be Big Ben of this years draft. A quarterback without a supporting cast with a very strong arm and can move in and out of the pocket that has played against pro style defences will have the most upside.

Leinart has a tendancy to float balls, and the saint's recievers have a tendency to drop balls that hit them in the hands, does anyone think that the saints current group of recievers are going to risk exposure to ingury to catch those high floaters...I don't.

Trade down and get more value for the dollar.

You exposed yourself dude. So it's not the fact that you don't think we should pick a quarterback at #2. It's the fact that you don't think that the team will pick who you want them to, who is Young. So you would rather trade down and keep Brooks if they won't pick Vince Young???? Outstanding. And the stat difference isn't really that convincing at all. 163.9 to 157.7 isn't like comparing great to good. Those are both outstanding QB ratings. This year Leinart threw for more yards, more touchdowns and less INTs, the stats that really matter. But you want to play the QB ratings game....cool. Look at the QB ratings in Young's previous two seasons, 130.64 and 128.37 respectively. Leinart posted QB ratings of 164.46 and 156.54. So over the long term, Leinart has proven to be much more consistent. He never threw for more than 9 INTs in any given season, with only 6 in 2004. You can say what you want about the TDs and him having all that talent around him, but he doesn't make very many bad decisions, which has nothing to do with talent around him and has everything to do with a player's instincts and decision making. Young's one great year reminds me of so many QBs that had one great year prior to entering the NFL draft, such as Akili Smith, Joey Harrington, Ryan Leaf and Kyle Boller.

The BIG GAME arguement doesn't really hold water either. I personally don't care how a QB does in big games. Every game counts in the NFL, not just the "big" ones.

I really am not crazy about Leinart or Young, but if you are comparing stats Leinart still comes out ahead. But I can see you obviously love Young and won't be objective about this, so whatever.

GT pretty much nailed that one. One of the reasons I haven't posted much lately is the repetitiveness of arguing against straight bias, which a lot of people have against Leinart. At least GT is willing to be objective. Kudos GT.

HA well I am STILL for trading down for the pick, if and only if we are able to get equal value for the pick, which would be somewhere in the neighborhood of a mid 1st, 3rd, and 4th this year, a 1st next year and a 2nd or 3rd the year after that. Other than that if Bush was at #2 i would still be in favor of picking him, Deuce here or not. Slim chance that we get that kind of a trade or that Bush will be there, so i am trying to warm up to the idea of picking Leinart. He would make the most sense in that spot.

Unlike a lot of people on this board, i think that we can be successful if the team goes in a number of directions, not only if they do it my way. After all, how often do they do what any of us want anyway? :)
