Bringing in a couple of FA is ok but you're not going to get veterans who are in there prime or tail end of their careers to come to a team with a unproven NFL QB that will take time to develop. We need major help on the lines before we should address the QB position. Build a OL and DL and it won't matter who you have at QB, DENVER, PITT, SEATTLE, CAROLINA... wait did I just mention the final four teams in the playoffs, damn.

No matter what the QB situation has to be addressed. I agree that the OL and DL are definite needs but QB is right there too. We have Brooks, who is finished here. We have Bouman who is a lifetime back up, and AMac who is a couple years away from contributing by all reports. I think we would have a harder time attracting FA's to come here and block for any of our QBs than for a rookie QB. We either need to get a QB through FA, like David Gerrard, or draft one, simple as that.
Denver, Pitt, Seattle, Carolina. You just named two teams with QBs picked in the top 15 picks in the draft. Hasselbeck and Delhomme also are bright QBs who make good decisions. None of our current QBs compare to them in the least. |

Neither of the QBs you mention have lines and D like us... they wouldn't be in the playoffs if behind our line. Trading down is the best way to go. Hell draft a QB in later rounds but we have to address the lines first.

I'm really high on Jacobs. I think his stock will rise. I see him as a Leftwich clone. The big knock is the system he played in. Which is the same as Alex Smith did last year.
