RE: Another coaching possibility?
Damn, Payton gettin busy:
-- Payton Working to Fill Assistant Positions -- Thu Jan 26, 2006 --from FFMastermind.com The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports Saints new HC Sean Payton still is searching to finish out his offense coaching staff, but has found at least one more assistant. Miami of Ohio strength coach Dan Dalrymple will be named to the same position with the Saints in the coming days, sources said. Dalrymple and Payton worked together with the RedHawks when Payton was there in 1994-95. Al Everest, who has been the Saints' special teams coordinator since 2000, said Wednesday he will not be retained by Payton. "By the weekend, I'd like to have both coordinators in place and a special teams coordinator in place," Payton said Wednesday. "I've got about seven more people I'm looking to interview." Payton said he had three interviews scheduled Wednesday and will be back in New Orleans today where he'll conduct several more. On Tuesday, current defensive line coach John Pease said Payton told him they would meet again Thursday. With Everest's departure Wednesday, and secondary coach Willy Robinson's move to St. Louis to re-join former Saints HC Jim Haslett, Pease is now the only remaining member of Haslett's staff still in the running to join Payton's staff. Tom Hayes, defensive coordinator at Stanford, had been rumored to a candidate for a position, but Hayes said he'd heard nothing from the Saints as of Wednesday. -- Saints Meet with Vitt -- Thu Jan 26, 2006 --from FFMastermind.com The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Rams interim HC Joe Vitt met with the Saints on Wednesday in Mobile, Ala., site of the Senior Bowl workouts this week. http://www.ffmastermind.com/teambits.php?team=NO |

RE: Another coaching possibility?
What does Joe Vitt want to coach here? Where would he fit in?
I think that unless Payton just absolutely disagrees with Pease, that he should get to stay. I think he's done a good job. He's coached Will Smith and Charles Grant into studs on the ends, and he's done a good job making sure that Brian Young continues to be effective (leading tackler on the team). I wouldn't mind seeing him stick around. And Cardinals RB coach????? They're RBs have been awful! |

RE: Another coaching possibility?
with the miami of OH(the real miami university, it was a university before florida became a state) coach coming in we should look into drafting qb josh betts. i went to high school with the kid and got to see him starting as a freshman and making some crazy throws. i once saw him throw the ball from his own 37yard line and hit his wr in stride at the other 10 yard line. that was as a freshman. he would be a project and would probably be served well by a year in nfl europe, but i would like to see what he could turn into. he may never be a starter, but he could make a good backup to leinart a few years down the road.
