April 21, 2003 18:17:57 PT Jeff Duncan, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports the New Orleans Saints and Cincinatti Bengals have agreed to terms on a trade that will send the No. 1 overall selection in the 2003 NFL Draft from Cincinatti to New Orleans for the 17th and 18th picks in the first round, the 22nd choice in the 2nd round (54th Overall), the 14th pick in the 3rd round (78th Overall) and both second-round picks in the 2004 NFL Draft. Coach Haslett said of his teams acquisition of the #1 selection, "This is the best thing for our football team in the long run." Sources close to the New Orleans Saints say the team has narrowed their choice for the No. 1 overall pick in April's draft down to Florida QB Rex Grossman and Kansas State CB Terrence Newman.

This is a joke. Had something like this been reported yesterday, it would have made the Sportscenter I just watched this morning. Yet, they were still talking about the Bengals and Palmer.

Grossman at #1????? What the f---, you could trade down to the back end of the round maybe even into the second and get him ,that would be stupidity of legendary scope worthy of enshrinement in the great hall of idiots and a set of walking papers to the architect of that fiasco. As for Newman he\'s probaly not going #1 either, there is no need to do this for those guys. Even if it were, we need more help than just in one spot, this can\'t be real it makes no sense. I\'ve had to eat a lot as a Saints fan ,Ditka was enough for anyone to endure in one lifetime twice is just sadistic beyond reason. If this happens there is a God and he hates the Saints. This has to be a lesson in draft rumors or how a draft value chart can be total bs.

Just noticed, we do not own the 78th pick that pick belongs to New England from the Tebucky trade. This story has to be crap.
