Another AB Suitor?
From cnnsi:
The belief in league circles is that Jets coach Eric Mangini and general manager Mike Tannenbaum are targeting Vanderbilt's Jay Cutler with the fourth overall pick. Such a move would coincide with signing a second-tier veteran -- Aaron Brooks, Jon Kitna, Brian Griese and Sage Rosenfels are possibilities -- and almost certainly would spell the end of Chad Pennington's career as a Jet. -- Newsday |

This article seems to think Brooks is a free agent. The Jets can't just sign AB, they've got to trade for him and with their new regime its unlikely they will.

Why not? I'm sure the Jets wouldn't mind givin up a pick for him? The only thing I question is his salary. If the Jets have to pick up his tab then I can see your point of view Deuce.

The Saints won't have an opportunity to trade Brooks. The vultures know that the Saints are not prepared to pay the guy $6+ million next year. The only way the Saints keep Brooks is if he renegotiates to a cap number in the $3 million ballpark, which Brooks' ego won't allow him to do. He'll be cut. Without a doubt. SFIAH |

The Jets have major salary cap issues as well. As bad as Brooks is, he will not be taking a league minimum deal.
